Here's Anne Sermons Gillis' 10/08/2019 newsletter, The EZ Secret: Tips on Living in EZ

Published: Tue, 10/08/19

The Anne Report brings you up to date on Anne’s latest activities. The Main article, The Back Story, reminds us that knowing a person's previous experiences often helps us to better understand their current actions. The Healthy Living article, Dryer Sheets, encourages us to consider what chemicals may be found in our dryer laundry products. In the Anne Talk, Authenticity, Anne reminds us that our life will be EZier when we live from our authentic self, not from a self-deprecating story we’ve told ourself. In today’s Dr. Money’s Prosperity Video, Upsets Are Impermanent, Anne suggests that we can overcome upsets when we realize that peace is always available to us, whether or not we've resolved our issue. The Featured Product This Month highlights Anne’s second book, EZosophy: The Art and Wisdom of EZ or At Least EZier Living. Click to read What is EZosophy? Click to join Abundance Affirmations.   The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

I cannot believe how old my body is. Maybe that’s because my mind seems ageless. Tomorrow, Oct. 9, I will be 71 years. It’s been a short, long ride. People say I don’t look my age. I say, “I look my age, but most 70 years olds look like they are 80!”

I’m in Mt Pleasant, SC, with my daughter, Elizabeth, and my grandchildren, Thomas and Reynolds. The twins are a bundle of animation, imagination, and Tasmanian devil. They wrestle, tumble, bumble, and play. The parents are unsure about the prognosis. Will they, as parents, survive? Every time I arrive, they look like they need a break – for about a year.

Sunday, the boys attended a pirate birthday party. I primed them with some pirate talk, “Ahoy, matey,” and they were good to go. It’s getting close to Halloween and we’ve had several intense conversations about bats. Google provided plenty of pictures of mothers with their baby bats. Did you know that a mother bat can distinguish her baby’s cry from hundreds of others? Maybe not the most pertinent Halloween information, but the animal world continues to amaze me.

And that’s it for the Anne Report.

The Back Story

I once was a member of a spa. It was my hangout, and I exercised several times a week. I was young and full of bluster; proud to be able to stretch and flex. I frequently looked around to see how my abilities matched up. Were mine as good as others’? Were they better that others’? There was one woman, who looked healthy, that just didn’t measure up. I would look at her and think, “She just isn’t paying attention. She isn’t doing it right.” One day we talked in the locker room. I heard her back story.

A few years before, she was struck in the head by a falling object. Since that date she had an ongoing headache. Some days were better than others, but the pain was always with her. I lurched internally. My judgment came so readily, but I didn’t judge myself for judging, yet it was a major point for learning.

I’ve found that when I hear the stories behind people’s actions and behaviors, I become much more tolerant and compassionate. Think of it – would a world where we can see beyond behavior, past gaping wounds, and into the good nature of people, be heaven? I Corinthians 13 says that we see God dimly now, but then we will see clearly, just as God sees into our hearts right now. But isn’t this our job? We are that spiritual essence. We are the boots on the ground, when it comes to compassion. How can compassion be delivered except by us?

When Osama Bin Laden was killed, people cheered. I grieved. I could see his life. I could see his mother welcoming him into the world. She was full of hopes and dreams for her babe. I’m a mother. I know what it’s like to birth and raise a child. We only want the best for our children. Then I could see the oppression he grew up under. This warm, innocent child grew up in an impossible world. We in the west were only privy to the Osama that we were told to see, but what were we not allowed to see? I don’t know what he was like or what he did, and I’ll never know, but I do know that when people hurt others, it’s because they were hurt first. I wasn’t grieving just for Osama; I was grieving for a world where sweet, innocent children are molded by others’ pain into cynical, hurtful people.

The back story of people’s lives gives us pause. We don’t need to excuse illegal or unkind behavior, but when we have some understanding behind the crime or misdeed, we soften. There’s a line in the Bible that says, “Vengeance is mine, says the Lord,” and while I don’t believe in an anthropomorphic God, I do think that scripture points to universal principles. This phrase warns us not to pass judgment, not because it’s God’s job; it’s because it hurts us when we pass judgment. God is unconditional love. How much judgment is there by the embodiment of compassion? But for us, judgment is a form of emotional retribution and projected pain. Scripture basically says, “It’s none of your business.” I think that’s a good policy; to leave the judging business alone and find out the back story, because when you do, everything gets EZier and EZier.

Join Anne’s Facebook Group

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches them becomes a part of the prosperity team.

You can also join the Prosperity Team by watching Anne’s Dr. Money channel.

Dryer Sheets

I don't use dryer sheets. It's been so long since I used them, I forgot my reasoning. I knew the chemicals they put off caused breathing problems, but I wanted more. Why do my guts shake when I see someone using dryer sheets? My findings were disturbing. It seems bad enough that dryer sheets are made from fiberglass, but the sheets include these chemicals:

  • Benzyl acetate: Linked to pancreatic cancer;
  • Benzyl Alcohol: Upper respiratory tract irritant;
  • Ethanol: On the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Hazardous Waste list and can cause central nervous system disorders;
  • Limonene: Known carcinogen;
  • A-Terpineol: Can cause respiratory problems, including fatal edema and central nervous system damage;
  • Ethyl Acetate: A narcotic on the EPA's Hazardous Waste list;
  • Camphor: Causes central nervous system disorders;
  • Chloroform: Neurotoxic, anesthetic, and carcinogenic;
  • Linalool: A narcotic that causes central nervous system disorders; and
  • Pentane: A chemical known to be harmful if inhaled.

Even though you may not be sensitive enough to experience immediate effects, toxic chemicals build in the body and, overtime, we suffer from toxic overload. It's called a body burden.

Liquid fabric softeners can be as bad as dryer sheets and the Environmental Working Group recommends we skip those as well.

There are some healthy dryer sheets and liquid softeners on the market, but before you purchase them, be sure to research the ingredients in your products. You can also save money and be sure you are toxic free. Try one of these alternatives:

  • Make wool dryer balls.
  • Try adding 1/4 cup (or less) of either vinegar or borax to your laundry wash cycle or add 1/4 cup vinegar to the rinse cycle.
  • Aluminum foil balls take out the static and you can make your own. Source
  • I purchased two plastic balls that work very well.

One out of ten children in the U.S. has asthma. We can't always control our air quality, but we can make good choices when we wash and dry our clothes. Some people find it burdensome to change chemical based home living to healthy home living, but if we make one change at a time, the task might even seem like an adventure. Some people spend weeks searching for that special outfit or lipstick shade while others spend hours on news sites. Our health should be more important than our appearance or our hunger for news. Check out your fabric softeners, whether sheets or liquid, and if you find toxins, it's time to make that change.
