  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

“I was born under a wand’rin star.” This song sang me this morning. Song is a part of me, and my subconscious mind gives me a message, as it often does, by singing a song that repeats in my mind. The Lerner and Loewe song was popular in 1970, and 1970 may be the last time I heard it. I pondered its meaning. What is a wandering star? I found the YouTube with Lee Marvin and listened with delight and knew. It meant that I had a wandering nature. This nature is not so much about outer travel, though I love it; it is about the many connections I love to make in life, be it with a bird, a theory, a good book, or the mysteries of the universe. I love to climb every mountain, with Julie Andrews, through song, and to reach the innermost regions through meditation. I was born a searcher, and the search is delightful. Life has such a benevolent nature, especially when I defer to its greatness, in lieu of my personal story. When we become a note in the symphony of life, we are carried by its melody, into an unparalleled richness that supersedes ego’s holy grail, doing and accomplishment.

It is good to do a bit of wand’rin. I have spent a lot of time taking care of my body, and though that’s important, thank you, kidneys, life is about so much more. Yet back to the body: I finally broke down and bought a juicer; it is in the mail. My juicer is in storage in Houston, but everyone on the planet seems to think celery juice is a miracle healing potion, so I will soon join the union of celery worshippers. I will let you know when I set the date for surgery and ask that you keep me on your prayer list for a bit. And that is it for the Anne Report.

Twisted Hair: My Spiritual Journey

I began my spiritual journey when I was four years old. In grade school, I ventured from church to church, looking for the truth. My neighbors were always glad for me to tag along, and I received a broad base education on the ins and outs of religion, hope, and spiritual styles. I remember attending a Baptist church service and feeling my skin cringe. Maybe every Baptist church was not like this one, but they were mean. That was not for me. As a teenager I read Edgar Cayce and stories on reincarnation. I hoped to reach a level of understanding and wisdom that would relieve my angst and serve my curiosity. My mom, grandmother, and aunt had their fingers in metaphysics. Their open minds invoked a thirst for exploration, questioning, and examining life. I was active in a Christian Church and a Disciples of Christ church, and was often referred to as Reverend Anne. I gave my first sermon at age 16.

In 1973 I started meditating. This opened other worlds, new dimensions. In 1976 I had my first awakening. Experiences come and go, but waking up is more of a change of paradigm and a new, permanent way of living. Since then I have stringently followed the inner trail to truth. I ventured to India in 1990 to be near a powerful guru. I spent years practicing the disciplines she espoused. In 1995 I met a woman who turned my mind around. She was a Cherokee elder. I understood things about creation that I had only glimpsed in the past. I felt a lot of personal power – the infinite possibility we have as creators, and my ability to create things beyond my wildest imagination.

In 1997 I met Gangaji, who moved life to another level. Personal power could be helpful and certainly could change the world for good, but there was something more, that cannot fit into concepts or words. I again traveled to India and brought home every book I could haul back, on the topic of non-dualism and vichara Ramana Maharshi’s grace filled me. I went beyond that which can be taught. Next, I stumbled across John Sherman’s work. I was looking for someone who was familiar with vichara. I found that John’s life was impacted by Ramana and Gangaji. I read his words and felt as if I had met a kindred soul. Life can only be only experienced, not learned, controlled, or rehearsed. Unfortunately, John now has dementia, but his work is still available. Carla, his knowledgeable wife, now carries his message. The Just One Look Method is available at no cost.

The essence of who we are, which is nondual, is easily overlooked and too often marginalized in our need to learn, grow, pigeonhole, compare, and produce. The books I brought from India are not available in the USA, but there is one book that is easily available, that brings home the truth. It is confrontational, iconoclastic, challenging, and hilarious. It is Anthony De Mello’s Awareness: The Perils and Opportunities of Reality. There is wisdom lurking in the corners of our souls that exposes us to the perils and opportunities of reality. If you have explored the limits of new thought, metaphysics, and the Law of Attraction (LOA), and you are curious, or maybe even desperate, for what lies beyond, De Mello’s book is a wonderful place to start. I liked the book so much that I conducted a class on that book for a couple of years.

The above is the condensed version of my spiritual journey. You can read more at http://www.annegillis.com/About-Anne.html. I did many things I have not mentioned, such as a fervent study of A Course in Miracles for 20 years, an infatuation with breath work, and an abiding love for Theosophy. People say it is the journey that counts, not the destination, but, for me, it all counts. There is a refreshing joy in looking down less traveled paths, jumping above cultural norms, and sashaying past the predictable. I call my journey the Anne Path. People seem to think they need to find one path and stick with it, and that might work for some, but for others, like me, and perhaps you, we are twisted hairs. We take a thread of one truth and add it to another, to form a rope or path of our making. It is not the road less traveled; it is the road never traveled, because we create our journey and walk this path alone, but with the help of our intuitive guidance and major synchronicities. Our path may not make sense to others, but, for us, it is perfect.

My life has not always been easy, but it has been easier because I have learned to go my own way. I have studied many disciplines, loved many teachers, and stood on the shoulders of giants. Each experience or teaching became an ingredient in the recipe of my life. When I put all the ingredients together, and put them into the oven, it baked an Anne cake. Even though there was no recipe, the cake came out perfect. It’s our lives, our journeys, and when we follow the inner teacher, and life’s pertinent signs, we always find that life becomes EZier and EZier.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
