  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

The countdown is on. Three more days until Christmas. Now that we are not five, the countdown is not that important, unless we spend Christmas morning with young children. And Grandpoppy and I will be with the boys on Christmas morning. Though they are six, they still believe. Grandpoppy and I were having our doubts; after all, how can Santa get to every child around the world in one night. But in watching The Christmas Dragon, we found the answer. Santa has a special orb that slows down time and it keeps him young. When you can slow time, you can have all the time you need to get to every child. I was relieved to finally understand the true nature of Christmas. It’s magic.

What a wonderful time we had at The Garden of a Thousand Lights. They were amazing. The boys loved them. There was one white light display that looked like Ewya, the Tree of Life, in Avatar. I took a brief video of the light trees.

Time to do some Christmas cooking. I have already made some old-fashioned fudge and plan to make my great Aunt Essie’s cheese crackers too. I always take a Christmas food pass, and even though I do not go wild, I do veer a bit into the land of sweets.

In case you missed them, here’s the link to my Conscious Christmas Carols. And here’s the Christmas poem I share each year:

Twas the Night …

It was the night before Christmas and all through our center
anticipation was growing for us and our mentors.

Our consciousness was raised to an all-time high,
’Cause we knew that the Christ mind would soon be nigh.

Our hearts’ lights were shining, our faces were cheery,
No room in the mind for thoughts that were dreary,

And all of the sudden there arose the mind chatter,
That said we were stupid and that we didn’t matter.

The voice of the ego had popped up again,
and said we were guilty, and all born in sin.

It ranted and raved and caused such a fuss,
that we doubted our Christ minds to the point that we cussed.

On guilty, on sleazy, on dummy, on lazy,
the ego drove our minds till we felt sort of crazy.

Then depressed and deflated, we sat in a heap,
With all our enlightened thoughts going to sleep.

We started to pray, we started to ask,
for a different perception, for freedom at last.

Forgiveness was offered and innocence too,
and before we all knew it, our Christ minds renewed.

In one holy instant our knowingness came,
and we felt the presence of Christmas again.

Beyond Bah Humbug

As we continue the season for magic and miracles, we find that some adults grasp for meaning, while others understand the deep magic of the season. What is the deep magic? It is love. It is connectivity. It is the awe we feel as unexplainable good appears in plain sight, to even the most cynical person. It is innocence. At Christmas we refer to the cynic as a Scrooge. He is our modern archetype of greed, animosity, and cynicism. But some things are too heart-warming for even a Scrooge to ignore. Life positions us to see the wayward, the weary, and the wondrous. The story of Scrooge is the story of how even the most hardened of hearts can be illuminated during Christmas.

Let us question our hard hearts. What part of us whispers “bah humbug” in the secret vaults of our minds? What part is smug and judgmental? And what part of us needs a Christmas miracle? Though our foibles may not be the dominant qualities in our minds, they reside there none the less. We all know you cannot ride a horse in two directions simultaneously, as we cannot criticize and adulate at the same time. Even though we may be pointed in one direction, it does not make the other direction cease to exist. Yet the direction we’re heading becomes the filter through which we see our lives. I recognize that we all have disingenuous parts of our personalities and, rather that seeing that as a tragic flaw in humanity, I view it as liberation. It is a relief to know that I am not the only one. I can ride in one direction, while not criticizing the other.

I have a great friend who reads my writings and listens to my talks. Her feedback is invaluable. “I find your strength is in your vulnerability. You seem to be able to share about your weaknesses without letting them define you. It helps me be more authentic.” And that is the miracle. We are not our mistakes.

Even though Scrooge made an about face, we cannot imagine that he completely changed. If the story were continued, we would see him dealing with challenges that would call him back to his former behavior. He might resist his old ways, but probably not in every situation.

Overcoming our previous staid positions and outlooks is a process. Do you remember when you converted to positive thinking? It was amazing: we discovered we could control our minds. But after the honeymoon with our brighter outlook was over, we found that the bright light would be challenged a thousand times. There were times when we slipped into unconscionable behavior. There were biased judgments, unkind remarks we wished we could retract, and times of unbridled angry righteousness. Christmas offers a reprieve from our shadow parts, and though we may start the new year with renewed hopes, we need not forget that emotional perfection is impossible. The good news is that the star that led the wise men shines throughout the year. It guides us in each moment to a transformation of viewpoint. It shines through the Scrooge in us and ignites the sweet spot within. It is the place where our original innocence resides. This innocence is always present, though often occluded.

Since guilt and shame are primary motivators in human behavior, allowing our innocence to surface is a crucial element of the joy of Christmas. We may not be able to gut it out, to figure it out, and do this ourselves, but when we surrender to the Source of our Being and ask that we experience the true nature of our innocence, we might be surprised with a Christmas miracle. Forget the shame-based narrative that we should have this handled by now and join me. Together we will follow that star, make room at our table for Scrooge, and free our innocence, because when we do, our lives become be EZier and EZier.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
