  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

It finally happened. Our grandchildren spent the night without their mom staying overnight with them. They stayed with us a couple of years ago in Texas, alone, but for some reason, they did not want to stay recently. But this time they were happy to come. No guff. Reynolds even thanked me for having them overnight. Go figure. I guess six-year-old proclivities are fickle.

One of the things a grandparent does not want to hear, from a yelling child, is “It was an accident.” I ran, imagination going wild, only to find a fallen toilet paper roll and holder on the floor. Not a big deal. Of course, the paper roll was fat and a bit lopsided, since it had been unrolled and rerolled by hand in a previous Thomas TP tryst. Still, those words, it was an accident, have a powerful effect!

My good friend, Vince Vanscoy, passed away. We met in the mid-eighties and have stayed in touch through the years. When I met him, he was trim, with jet black hair, but in his later years he was a bit larger and had snow white hair. He took advantage of his looks, grew a beard, and became a sought-after Santa. He passed away on New Year’s Day, from cancer, yet he played his last Santa gig in December. His picture is below. And that’s it for the Anne Report.

Mayhem at the Capitol: What Do I Think?

People ask me what I think about the mayhem at the Capitol. My take. What we say about others, and how we say it, reflects more about us than it does about the people and the events we speak of. My thoughts about the riots? I think that people do what they think is right. I believe that when people are afraid and threatened, even if it is only a story in their heads, they act accordingly. I saw pictures of people in the Capitol building who were afraid and trying to control their lives by rebelling, destroying, and trying to get revenge for the failures they felt in their lives. I saw people who never fit in, people who did not know the essence of love, compassion, and peace, trying to get it in a way that assured they would not get what they wanted or needed. Should they be arrested? Absolutely; unlawful actions should have consequences. Should they be hated? Never. Hate is another form of fear that lodges in our hearts and starts eating away at all the good that might be possible in our lives. What others do should never define our character.

Hate and anger, without action, are passive forms of rioting. They occur in the inner realms rather than in the outside worlds. What do I think? I think I should pray for everyone’s redemption, not in a classical sense, but in the sense that all be restored. I would pray that all people involved regain their sense of belonging, their sense of feeling loved and respected, and their sense of equanimity.

Some people look at a person struggling with homelessness and feel anger. They wonder why they do not get a job. Others look at a person with no home and feel sorry for him or her, but others look into the same situation and feel compassion, “That could be me. Just a few bad breaks and everything could fall apart for anyone.” We need a “we” perspective when it comes to humankind. A person who has no physical home is equal to us. We do not need to see ourselves as better or worse than others. We need to stand hand and hand, even if it is just in our hearts. Please do not try to literally hold hands with someone who is rioting! That is not what I mean. It may seem that I am being too descriptive, but I have seen people take things literally. I once spoke with a woman whose purse was stolen from her car. I asked if the glass went everywhere. “No.” She left the car window open and the car unlocked because she trusted God and was a positive person. PLEASE! Use common sense with all advice. While aspirin is good for a headache, it is best to put a band aid on a cut.

We live in a society that sees and create enemies. Enemies, those wrongly defined through lenses of fear and anger, are those who do not think as we do. Look at what McCarthyism did in our country. Anyone who said they were a communist or suspected of being a communist was put on a list. They were treated like pariahs. Careers were ruined even if they were innocent. Poor Pete Seeger. Years lost for him, and he wrote “This Land is Your Land.” For Pete’s sake! My husband and I watched the movie, Julia and Julia, recently. During the McCarthy era, Julia Child’s husband was called in for questioning. He was bereft over his treatment, traumatized; he began to question his entire career, though he faithfully served our government for years. We do not want to be like McCarthy and turn those who chose differently than we into enemies. I repeat, this does not preclude punishment for crime or destruction of property, but it does call for compassion in the face of what we do not understand. We do not understand how people’s lives and values are formed.

Do you remember the story of the young child who was asked to give a blood transfusion to his brother? He willingly said yes, and when they started taking his blood, he asked, “How long will it take before I die?” He thought the nurse was going to drain all his blood and give it to his brother. I think we could all use a little brotherly love about now.

So, what do I think about the riots? I think they are sad. I think it was a tragedy, as I think all war, all bullying, all name calling, all murder, all theft, all violence is tragic, and I do not want to add one cubit to its breadth. So be it.

Suppose someone told you that you could change your life radically, for the better, if you spent just three minutes a day doing inner work? Would you believe it? Maybe not, but wouldn't it be worth an investment of three minutes a day to try it?

The Living Book offers just this. Devote three minutes a day to this process and your life will become a living testimony to the seed principle. A tiny seed can grow into a mighty tree, but it must be planted. Plant your daily seed for three short minutes and notice both subtle and miraculous changes in your life. In addition to the daily practice, one can use the process when they are stumped or afraid or angry. This process transforms anger into love. When we plant seeds of light into our thoughts and emotional bodies, we move into higher frequencies of well-being.

The Living Book, by Anne Sermons Gillis. Paperback $4.95 plus $3.00 shipping. PDF Download $0.99. Kindle Book $2.99.

Join Anne’s Facebook Group

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
