The Anne Report
Dear ,
Thomas recently gave me a history lesson. “During the Civil War, the bad people were on the ground and they didn’t know the good people were flying above. They beat the bad people and that’s how America become indivisible.”
Reynolds told me he was going to tell me a story of the most baddest airplane crash in history. His mind went elsewhere, and I was left without finding out what happened. I love that they both say “putted” instead of “put.” Their grammar always brings a smile. I should correct them, but when their mom was a child, I did not correct her either. She always said “hamgerber” and I was sad when she learned how to pronounce it correctly.
My sister, Jo, who passed away a few years ago, said, upon viewing the ocean for the first time, “Daddy, it just keeps flushing and flushing.” That became a family story. And I always love that my daughter thought that Chicken of the Sea was actually a chicken that lived in the sea.
We took our first big outing since COVID and our move. We met friends, Judy and Bruce Barnes, in Columbia, SC for lunch. Columbia is the halfway point between our two houses. They moved into their new place in NC the same time we moved into our new home. We socialized when we all lived in the Woodlands, TX. I have not had a super great pizza since we moved, and I had one of those yummy pizzas with crust to live for. So great to get out. And that’s it for the Anne Report.

Doing the Work, Then Letting Go
I have a friend who, at age 60, decided he must act to get out of his analytical mind. He was a scientist and much of his career was spent in the intellect. He felt his best option to stimulate his right brain was to learn to play an instrument. He wanted to play the violin, banjo, guitar, and piano. He started with the violin. He had someone show him the chords and how to hold the bow, but then he was on his own. His plan was to practice five minutes a day. Late one night, he was tired and not really feeling it, but he knew, as others know, that a goal is a promise you make to yourself, and he wanted to keep his pledge. He picked up the violin and started to play. His played poorly but stayed with it. Then something wonderful occurred: he started playing a song, or rather, a song started playing him. He had surrendered to the violin and to the music. They became a part of him, and he got out of the way. He learned to play the violin and went on to learn to play the guitar, banjo, and piano, always surrendering to the instruments and getting out of the way.
What a powerful story. He saw something he wanted to change, set a goal, acted, and then let go. He practiced every day; then the miracle happened, when he yielded to the process. Many New Thought devotees think that setting a goal and picturing it will bring the desired results, but not always, and in this case, he acted and then let go. He did not sit around hoping he would magically feel like playing an instrument. He did the work, then he let go.
There is an argument about spiritual awakening. Many say we can wake up immediately, that now is always the time to awaken. Others say awakening, or freedom from our limits, occurs over time, after we work to remove the blocks to the hidden Self, that which is lies beneath our mental, physical, and emotional rubble. If our goal is emotional freedom, peace, and joyful living, all elements of an awakened being, and we are not experiencing them, it is best to continue to work, study, meditate, forgive, and live in gratitude. We do these things not to be a better person, or to earn enlightenment or salvation; we do them so we can realize the perfect spiritual being we already are. When Jack Nicholson said, in the movie As Good As It Gets, “You make me want to be a better man,” he missed the mark. His behavior could be improved, but his being, his soul, was already a perfect aspect of the divine.
When A Course in Miracles (ACIM) says that we need do nothing, it speaks not of daily activity, life maintenance, or changing poor emotional and physical habits. It means that we need do nothing to earn a better spot in life. The better spot we seek is always already present. The space of who we are is free and cannot, nor need not, be earned. The do-nothing missive means that who we are is a point of divine perfection and we cannot do anything to defile who we are or to earn access to being better. We can change our behavior, but we cannot change our being. It is already as it should be.
Life’s conditions are impermanence, suffering, and not self.
-
Impermanence - Impermanence speaks of the changeability of life. Life changes. Like the old saying, if you don’t like the weather, stick around, and it will change.” We are driven by abhinivesha. This means we want to hold onto the past. It is a ridiculous notion, since things can never be as they were; they can only be as they are, yet this mental adherence to our solid, deluded, belief systems locks us out of reality.
-
Suffering - We may not realize it, but we are attached to ego driven suffering. This attachment is called avesha. Our attachment to suffering is lined with a cozy familiarity. This hits to the core of EZosophy. Our conditioning leads to suffering, but reality is neutral.
-
Not Self – Until we wake up, we live in a state of not knowing who we are. We can see, yet we hold our hands over our eyes and live from the perspective of blindness. We dissect our blindness and learn to navigate life as a blind person, but what we really need to do is to remove our hands from our eyes. Conditioning keeps us stuck. It does not want us to drop our hands. Conditioning wants everything to stay as it is.
Knowing and experiencing reality as it is is called yathabhutananadassa. It is an awakened state. There are no roads, there are no short cuts, there are no prescriptions to yathabhutananadassa. When we know the Universe as benevolent, and remember that “… all things, events, encounters, and circumstances are helpful.” (ACIM), we can relax. The universe flows as it should, and we are immersed in It and just along for the ride. When we ride without resistance in Reality, life is always EZier and EZier.

Abundance Affirmations
This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
