A Note From Anne
Dear ,
This week we celebrate the freedom of our nation. It is not acceptable to live under the tyranny of an oppressive government, but unfortunately we have an oppressive government living in our heads. We can live in the freest country in the world, one which values the environment, one which has political transparency, and one which leaves no one behind, but until we are emotionally or mentally free, we continue to live as captives existing under the worst kind of oppression. This week’s newsletter speaks to the inner states of freedom.
It's so hot in Texas I think you could cook a fried egg on my back patio table. The rats are gone, the bats are on duty, but I did see a little feral kitten walk by my house. So now we have rats, bats, and cats to talk about. It's one of those kitties you can't catch, but she was very cute. I think we now have two feral cats in our neighborhood. I left out a bowl of fresh water -- there are frogs, lizards, and bugs to eat, so I have to stay out of this one, since I can't seem to catch the cats. Good luck to the little kitty and have an easy and freedom enhancing week.

Pledge of Allegiance
I pledge allegiance to my highest thoughts. I know that thoughts can never hurt my spirit, but they can hurt my body and wreck this teetering reality I am creating. I promise to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous. I promise to be the powerful person that I am and to stop blaming any person, place, or situation for my difficulties. I admit that no person, place, or situation can stand in the way of my good.
I liberate myself from my fears and pledge to stand up, speak out, and be seen. No longer will I decline my divine inheritance. This is the day the Lord has made for me, and I claim my abundance, health, happiness, and wisdom. I am willing to see my faults, but I will not put my faith in them. I rest my faith in the unlimited, unconditional love of my BEING. I soar in the freedom of my choices; therefore I am free at last, free at last, free at last.
These are my liberation papers. I am free.

Prayers for the Modern Mystic
Declaration of Inner-Dependence
I, a spirit of the United States of Consciousness, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure tranquility, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty for myself and others, and for posterity, do ordain and establish this Declaration of Inner-Dependence.
I, __________________, am inner-dependent. I am fully dependent on the source within to provide me with a sufficiency of all things necessary to live a passionate, joy-filled life. When I settle down my mind and release the thoughts that drag me down, I am immersed in the deep, quiet place of fulfillment. I declare that this inner space is non-failing and all-providing. I am a part of this grand intelligence and choose to live my life in accordance with its provisions. I depend on the substance within to care for my every need. The unfailing spiritual activity within me provides goodness and mercy in my relationship with self and others, my financial affairs, and in my career, body, mind, and feeling nature. I accept the inner presence as my instant, constant, non-ending abundance of all good things. God is the source and the I Am of me is the re-source. I am like my creator, Source and Re-Source.
Furthermore, I hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people are created equal in spirit, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
Furthermore, I know myself to be the creator of life, liberty, and happiness in my world and, as an inner-dependent, I know that I am richly blessed by everything, everyone, and every situation. So Be IT!

Health Tip: Change One Thing
I spoke with my friend, Rev. Debra Morwood, this morning and asked her for a health tip. She instantly replied, "You have to change one thing." I was puzzled and responded, "How is that a health tip?" "If you want to be healthier, you have to change, and if you can change just one thing, you are on your way. I work in an office, and I have decided to take the stairs three times a day. It's a small thing, but doing it day after day, you can see how that could be a lifestyle change." I can see how that would burn more calories and strengthen her legs and heart. It's also something that fits into a busy schedule.
It reminds me that my husband saw an old friend this week. He told me that our friend had lost a lot of weight. "I almost didn’t recognize her." He told me that she had made two changes in her diet. She stopped eating wheat and sugar. It might not be that easy for some people, but if you can get past the first three days, it's easier. The habits start abating. It wasn't complicated or difficult to understand, so, coupled with her determination to upgrade her health, it was the perfect plan for her.
Sometimes, when wanting to live healthier lives, we try to change everything at once, and we forget that making one or two changes in our lives can be life altering. Michael Jackson would be the first one to say, "Make that change." And I'm asking you to turn the direction of your health by making one change. Is there something that fits into your lifestyle that you can do today? Find that thing, do it, and watch your life get easier and easier.

Dear Annie G,
I try to be a good citizen and make a difference. I am concerned
about the environment and what’s going to happen to it, but my
friends are so oblivious to the earth and nature. They use a
tremendous amount of plastics. They buy a lot of useless things.
They think I'm a goody-goody, and I wonder if I'm doing any good
at all. How can I stay inspired to do the right thing?

Dear Eddie,
Thank you for doing all that you do. I know it is hard to do the
right thing, to conserve, and to recycle, when it seems like what
you do makes such a small difference. It sounds like your friends'
values are different from yours and you feel isolated and perhaps
even a little weird because of your attempts to sustain life on
the planet.
This is what I found to be true in my life. I really should not be doing what I do because of what others do or even think; I need to do what I do because of me. I have to follow my conscience and intuition. You may feel a little hopeless doing what you are doing, but I think you would feel very guilty and apathetic if you didn't do anything. I do a lot of little things that no one but me knows that I do for the planet. I take it to the extreme. Why do I do that? I figure that even if the world is doomed, and life for humans and many other species is timed, that maybe my contribution will allow life to continue just one more second.
I think of all the things that happen in one second on the planet. I feel like I am a one second sponsor of life on earth as we know it. But sometimes I think – if others do the same, there might be an invisible intention that builds; some unpredictable good might ensue. Maybe that's a fantasy, but I am the proud sponsor of one second of life on this planet. Join me, become another "One Second of Life on Earth" sponsor, and live your life in deference to that. Each action you take to conserve water, conserve gas, recycle, and to be a protector rather than a consumer of the planet is well worth it.
There's a saying, "When one blade of grass is cut, the universe shakes." There is no way one can measure the impact of any one action they may take, but, for sure, when we act out of kindness and compassion for all of life, we can breathe easier, knowing that we are a part of love's destiny.
