A Note From Anne
Dear ,
Thank you to everyone who was concerned for my broken ribs and cold. I am now on the mend and my ribs are healing nicely. It will be a while before I do sits ups, but I am doing isometric exercises for my stomach, so my core still feels strong.
People tell me I am lucky to be so healthy. I think it has more to do with exercising all my life and eating a relatively clean diet. Many say our mental diet is the most important, but I feel better when I eat healthier foods, so I maintain a good mental and physical diet. Today I met a woman who exhausted all medical recourse to her illness. She cannot undo her past habits and she does not see any other options. I hope I never face that situation, but if I do, I would face it with grace. I honor my body, but I am not a body and I can exist in harmony regardless of how my body presents itself in the physical world. I am not my body – surely one who ages experiences the ageless quality of how we exist as consciousness, not as flesh.
With all that said, I claim the idea of good luck as well. Luck is such a refreshing word. I pepper my dialogue with the word "luck." Someone once asked Gangaji about "luck" and she laughed and replied, "Luck is everywhere." A good friend once said, "You always come out smelling like a rose." I took the slogan as my own and now pronounce it for you. Regardless of the situation or circumstance, you "always come out smelling like a rose." I am a wise expert on all matters of "you." So live as those words and let them permeate your thoughts. "I always come out smelling like a rose." All together, we put out an amazing scent of love and compassion because we smell like roses. This is a metaphor for the grace of presence in our day to day lives. Rest in that grace, luck, and love and remember that everything can be EZ or at least EZier."

Witness Protection Plan
Have you ever heard of the witness protection plan? It happens frequently on television. The witness testifies about a crime, and because of the testimony, the witness's life is in jeopardy. The witness then goes under the witness protection plan. To ensure her/his safety, s/he might be moved to a different town and set up with a new identity. Everything possible is done to keep the witness from harm.
If you are truth seeker and finder, you need to go under the witness protection plan. The more we get in touch with truth, the more our ego tries to create Ego Driven Struggle. The ego is a part of our minds that plots to kill the truth. When we have a new realization, feel more at peace, or grow happier, then boom, the stealthy little ego drops a nasty bomb. The ways of the ego are insidious. It appears the ego is working for our good, but its true mission is to return us to our original state of chaos. It's like a thermostat.
A thermostat keeps temperature constant. If a room gets too cold, the thermostat turns the heat on and then the room warms up. When the room reaches the desired warmth, the heat clicks off. It keeps the room temperature constant. The ego is the thermostat of our lives because when we deviate from our temperatures of depression, lethargy, negativity, or hopelessness, the ego turns on the mind, to bring our lives back to normal. The ego uses such methods as illogical logic, intellectualism, drama, and physical illness to bring back our minds to their previous state of gloom. The ego is like a fox on the run — it won't settle down. It just keeps running around our minds, using people, places, and circumstances to keep us trapped in mental hell.
We need a witness protection plan for our minds. When the light of our truth begins to shine, we can provide safety for the new tender ways of perception. These emerging insights form the foundations of our delivery into the promised land of our being.
The enlightened being witness protection plan:
- Don't share a new truth with a known skeptic. When a truth is new, your mind is too vulnerable to defend it. A good skeptic can shoot down almost any new insight. Let the seeds of your new truth grow from a seedling into a tree before you go against a cynical mind. It is hard to knock down a tree, but it is easy to trample a seedling. Your ego wants you to share with someone who will shoot you down and return you to the ordinary. Don't do it. "Do not cast your pearls before swine." It hurts your faith and doesn't benefit the skeptic.
- Hang around people who can support your new way of being. Hanging around depressed people is just as dangerous as sharing a new truth prematurely. If you want to be happier, then you must hang around happy people. If you get happier and stay around the same old depressed folks, without a break, or a haven, you may return to your earlier state of unhappiness. New ideas are like logs in a fire: one log removed extinguishes, while logs burning together feed each other's flame. Finding a like-minded people, who can support your growth, is like keeping the log on the fire.
- Continue to feed your mind on the light of truth. Read inspirational literature, pray, do conscious breathing, stillness practices, mantra yoga, hatha yoga, or meditate. These practices shine light into your mind.
We need light to become beings of truth. Without light or spiritual inspiration, we are like an interior decorator who tries to decorate a house when the lights are out. Not only is it difficult to move around in the dark, it is impossible to create a pleasing room or home without light. If you asked a decorator to hang art and arrange furniture in a dark room, s/he would think you were crazy. Shining light in our lives is like the decorator turning on the light: the light won't decorate the room, but it will allow you to see how to do it. The light won't live our lives for us -- truth doesn't makes our choices for us -- but the light nurtures truth so we can see how to make mighty leaps into a new way of living.
Find your witness protection plan, because on the heels of any new step you, there is an ego that drags you back to being the old you. Fortunately, the mind's adversary has little power over the wisdom, compassion, and love of an enlightened mind and heart. Feed and protect your precious new truth and eventually the ego will starve to death. Be wise, plant your seeds, and don't let anyone pull at your new growing life until it is mature and solid. Life is easier when you protect and nurture your truth.
Take it easy and remember that life can be EZ or at least EZier.

Health Tip: Toxicity Ratings
Did you know that you can get toxicity ratings on many of the foods you eat, the makeup you wear, or the bug repellent you use? This is an awesome site; it even gives you tips on safer cell phone usage, informs you about BPA, and guides you to the most effective water filter. Ralph Nader must be proud.
I stopped wearing hair color many years ago, but I checked out the ratings on some hair colors and, as you may have guessed, they have high toxicity ratings. Check out your products at http://www.ewg.org/consumer-guides.

"Don’t look at me; forget my view; the place to

Years ago a friend told me a few Guidelines for
Conscious Living off the top of her head. Here’s
what I remember. I may have added or even
accidentally tweaked them, but I’m standing behind
them. They offer good advice.
Guidelines for Conscious Living:
- Show up. Be here.
- Pay attention. Be aware.
- Make it easy. Be cool.
- Tell the truth; be honest.
- Accept what is. Be flexible.
- Have fun. Be en-joy.
