  A Note From Anne

Dear ,

Last week I had the silliest poem in my intro and it seemed to be popular. I was pleased and surprised. Maybe it’s an indicator that we’ve turned a corner on seriousness and we all need relief. To honor our need for humor, the following song was designed to knock us off the somberness of traditional adult life. We’ve been too serious and it’s time to come out and play. Take a deep breath and then belt out this EZosophy Oldie Goldie.

Joy to the World (Tune of “Joy to the World”)

Joy to the world, the time has come to have a little fun.
We frowned and frowned, our smiles are upside down.
We’ve been too serious, we’ve been too serious,
We’ve been, we’ve been too serious.

We came to earth to have some fun and laugh and sing and dance.
We brought our light to bring delight
And not be serious, and not be serious,
And not, and not be serious.

We lost our way, forgot to play, and acted like adults.
We worked and worked, forgot life’s perks.
We’ve been too serious, we’ve been too serious,
We’ve been, we’ve been too serious.

We choose today to come alive and joke and laugh and dance.
We pledge our light to shine so bright,
And not be serious, and not be serious,
And not, and not be serious.

With this song, let lightning strike again, ‘cause most folks need to lighten up, so their lives can be easier and easier.

  Tips for Mastering Life

Each day offers a fresh new day for physical and emotional recovery, and mystical discovery. In the allowing of life to be as it is, and in the awareness and attention to life, opening occurs. Reality, as it is, is the most amazing encounter we ever have.

Each moment in form is fresh and new. Each moment is unique. Things change, and if we can tune into this flow of change, we are illuminated. Each moment, each millisecond, is crafted in a brand new moment of movement, energy, and creation.

When people embody awareness and live in reality, they take on this mystical quality; it is as if they are otherworldly. There is a light of knowing exuding from everything they are. We want to get close to these people of reality. We want something to rub off.

It is natural to go toward the light, but what we fail to realize is that it is the same light that shines in others that makes us mystics too. We don't have to go toward the light; we already are a part of that light. We are as integral a part of all there is as anyone. Our personal splash of light is inseparable from the whole. To know and live with that understanding invokes miracle like events and circumstances. We need a centered life, good physical endurance, and psychological grace in order to remain emotionally balanced in the mist of the unveiled life - the life of mystery and mastery.

What supports a masterful life?

  • A good diet, not a perfect one, but a diet full of natural, unprocessed foods. Food is not meant to be a religion. Food may have redemptive qualities, but food is not salvation. Salvation is the destruction of the belief in separation and the resurrection of a life in reality.
  • Physical exercise, such stretching and endurance activities. Light moves; light is energy. We are both, and without movement we are stagnant.
  • Emotional healing - One can heal emotionally by living in the now or choose the longer route of therapy or self-help. For most it takes a combination of the three. Life is easier when we are not living from our emotions. Pain may teach us, but eventually it's time to clear the pain: face it, embrace it, and clear it. Somewhere along the way we have to learn to live from aliveness, not from fear, anger, or sadness. When we can be with life as it is, without suffering, we gain emotional freedom and set the stage for the mystical life.

“What is a mystic?” A mystic is one who knows the connection of everything and who lives from that knowing. A mystic is inner referenced and lives to honor life, rather than to figure it out, so it can be harnessed for personal gain. We all are mystics because we have these qualities; it just takes work to uncover the mystic in us. Our minds are working all the time. We spin scenarios: we create outrageous stories and believe caustic lies. So doing the work to unleash the inner mystic shouldn’t be so difficult because we are used to working and overworking our minds. We have an inner call: it is a song that is singing our lives. It is our job to listen for and sing this song. When we do, we find not only do we awaken the mystic within, we make our lives easier and easier.

"Standing in the Dark, by Anne Sermons Gillis, isn't just another positive thinking book. It's a book about the difficult times in life and what we can do to make it through them. It does, however, give us positive ways to make life easier. It's a short book, but it's one that may just turn your thinking on its head, which will probably be the best thing that's happened to your thinking in a long time. It's about how to bring more ease into a life that isn't easy all of the time. Anne discusses six main areas of life: Ease, Mission, Health, Relationships, Money, and Loss."

Magnesium Force

Do you A friend of mine takes a large dose of magnesium at bedtime to help her sleep. I tried it and it helps me sleep as well. I was dubious about a large intake because magnesium promotes bowel movements. I didn’t want to do the bathroom trot, but I took three 250 mg tablets at bedtime and it’s worked out well. FYI, constipation is a sign of low magnesium levels.

According to whfoods.org, magnesium is the key mineral for human metabolism. Their site provides a list of foods rich in magnesium.

Click to see foods rich in magnesium

There are some contraindications for taking magnesium. The calcium to magnesium ratio needs to be 1:1. I am not a doctor, and even though many doctors know very little about minerals, this is not a prescription or a recommendation. It’s just my experience. If you are eating a high level of calcium, think yogurt, cheese, or milk, you probably have a higher level of calcium than magnesium and I’ll bet you need more magnesium.

Here’s my secret bedtime cocktail - calcium, magnesium, melatonin, and Hyland’s (homeopathic) Insomnia tablets. I often add a vitamin C and a probiotic. And if I had my way, I’d be eating hot buttered popcorn as well, but that’s just a dream. As you can see, I’m going to cover all the bases so I can sleep well, and the good news is that I do sleep like a baby.
