A Note From Anne
Dear ,
As you might know, I’m working on my fourth book. It’s exciting. I have so many ideas, I almost have to shut off my mind. I was stuck for a while because I didn’t know where to start. I found that if I just did one thing at a time, the ideas started flowing.
Too often we don’t start our projects because we will not push the start button. Here are some of the things that I did to get started. I asked myself, “What can I do right now on my project?”
I made a list of the concepts I wanted to cover in the book. Next I made a list of the chapters I wanted in the book. Then I picked a chapter I felt inspired to write and wrote that chapter or maybe even a part of the chapter. That’s still the process. Which chapter can I work on now? By doing a little at a time, it may take a long time to get the book finished, but at least it will get finished. If I wait until I have swaths of uninterrupted time to work on it, it may never happen.
Whatever project you want to get started, don’t wait until you have time. Just push the start button now and work on it in small increments. It’s much better to take a long time to complete a project than to never do it at all. I’m sure there’s something you have on the back burner that you want to do. Get started today. You’ll feel empowered when you take that first step, and it will get EZier and EZier every day.

Awareness Affirmations
The following is an excerpt from my new book, Magic Words, Affirmations, Visionary Statements, Healing and Revolutionary Thoughts for Our Individual and Collective Good. I’ll be sure to let you know when the book comes out.
Awareness Affirmations
Everything we say and think is an affirmation. At best, an affirmation points past a concept and into our true nature. The following affirmations are designed to bring us into the awareness of what is really happening. Once we become aware of what is now, what is physically happening in our personal world, right now, we begin to dissolve into the great awareness that holds everything. Awareness of what is now is the door to infinite awareness. This awareness is beyond intellect, but it holds our intellect. It is beyond what is physical, but holds what is physical.
Raise your arm and move your arm up and down. Do this before you read further. Next, move your arm up and down, but this time the focus on your arm and see if this time you are more aware of the movement. Move your arm again, only this time do it with the idea of making the movement, “easier, freer, and lighter.” See if you can feel your awareness deepen as you progress with the exercises. The affirmation, “easier, freer, lighter,” combined with the awareness of what you were doing, brings you into reality. Normally we are in our heads and thinking about what was, what will be, our expectations, and wants. There’s nothing wrong with this; it's just not reality. When we exist in our heads, we suspect that something is missing from life. The thing we are missing is life itself. Life as we know it, has been a conversation in our heads, not life itself.
The following are not only affirmations to think or say, they are harbingers of awareness. Bring your awareness to the following areas.
I am aware of my breathing. Instead of just thinking this,
actually focus on your breathing.
I am aware of breathing in. I am aware of breathing out.
I am aware that I have a short breath.
I am aware of my eyes. I relax my focus.
I am aware of my shoulders.
I am aware of my stomach.
I am aware of the temperature in the air and how it feels on my
skin.
I am aware of the sounds in this area.
I am aware of the area where my arm and shoulder fit together.
I am aware of the pressure on the bottom of my feet.
I am aware of my lower abdomen.
I am aware of my heart chakra area.
I am aware of any odors or fragrances in the air.
I am aware of my jaw.
I am aware of sensations in my body.
I am aware of my thoughts. (Witness your thoughts just for an
instant; then repeat the noticing again for another brief
instant.)
Getting into our body and being aware of the sensations is a great way to become more aware. Try tapping on the spot in the center of your chest. We think of this as the heart chakra but it is also called the Sea of Tranquility. We hold a lot of sadness and pain here. Tapping in this area not only helps release stagnant energy, it also brings us into deeper awareness.
The more aware we are, the more integrated into reality we become. This is the medicine for the sense of alienation and separation we feel from life. Everything we need to live a peaceful and harmonious life is available to us, but until we develop our awareness of what is present, we continue to be unaware of the peace that passes understanding.

Standing in the Dark
|
|
|
Anne's book, Standing in the Dark, is a salve for the out-of-control mind. In a high-speed society that forces time to do double-time and stuffs minds with inestimably complex information, we need mental medicine. Popular mind-bending methods encourage us to come up with the highest thoughts, to be positive and powerful, and to live our passion. Yet that which is the highest is beyond what words can touch. |
One may use thoughts in constructive ways and think higher thoughts, yet one must be aware that the mind plays little tricks on itself to calm itself down. Trickery is okay, but the whole idea of choosing our thoughts and our lives is an intermediary step. Through choice we learn to gain control of our minds and lives, so that at some point we can surrender the mechanism that chooses. Standing in the Dark explores the deep issues of life, which include relationships, health, money, loss, mission, and making life easier. This is not a positive thinking book. It looks at uncomfortable topics such as losing your best friend or being robbed at gunpoint. It points out that life can be bumpy, even when we live in the flow. You will leap from the practical to the possible, and hopefully land in the mystical. Standing in the Dark turns ordinary moments into sacred moments and lights the darkest corners of existence. The words hold hands with the human heart and allow the readers to embrace their humanity. This book heals the heart by letting you know it was never really broken, you are fine the way you are, and life itself is as it should be. Relax. All is well. |

Healthy Living
Your Spine is Your Lifeline
When our backs are stiff, we lose energy and look older. When our backs are flexible, life is easier and we move with a renewed sense dignity and grace. Try these four exercises to keep your spine in line and flexible.
- Bend over like you are going to touch your toes. Let your arms hang and just relax. Count to ten. Return to standing. Do this three times.
- Lean your shoulders back and arch your back. Lean back as far it is comfortable. Keep your hands on your hips. Hold to the count of ten and return to standing position. Do this three times.
- While standing do the twist, like you were dancing. Stretch your spine in a twisting motion. Do this slowly twenty times.
- Make fists with both hands and tap your spine up and down on each side simultaneously. This releases tension from the muscles on each side of the spine.
Know your limits and do all these with awareness and intention. Do them slowly and you will feel better and more flexible. The mind follows the body; a flexible body assists the mind in maintaining order and tranquility.
