  The Anne Report

You Can Choose to Maintain Your Peace

Dear ,

I’m back in Charleston. It was an unexpected trip. My brother-in-law passed away, and even though I made it out of the Houston area, with its ice and snow, the weather in NC kept me from attending the funeral. I was able to go later, after the thaw, and spend a night with my sister.

I stayed in Charleston for most of the week. My little grands are very industrious, mischievous, and wild. They take the saying "boys will be boys" to a different level. Whenever I’m with them, I remember when my daughter was going through a high-risk pregnancy. There were so many problems that the doctors brought in students to study the case. She was so brave. The doctors expected her to lose both, or at least one baby. She said, "Mom, I just picture them running around and playing." I can never look at them without remembering that. My daughter was at her best, and by her shear will, she kept those boys alive. She mentally prepared for the best. Wouldn’t be great if we could hold that kind of determination for the good in our lives?

Last week, on one of my flight delays, I sat on the floor to charge my phone. I watched as delayed passengers trudged by. I had been delayed several hours, and I not only felt fine, I felt happy. I was sad that people who are detained seem to get into such a state, and I felt fortunate that I was on a different path. I wouldn’t get to my destination and talk about the "horrors or injustices" I had encountered. I had no need to spin drama. I arrived in Charleston at 3 AM, just happy to have gotten in that night. I want my desire to be happy to be as resolute as my daughter’s to have healthier children and, at least for that one day, despite a 13 hour travel day, giving up ego driven drama gave me not only peace of mind, it gave me plenty of energy.

Letter From God

The following is an excerpt from my book, Offbeat Prayers for the Modern Mystic.

If the word God is one that is no longer relevant to you or one that brings up past hurt and pain, please change that word to Infinite Good, The Universe, Creator, or one you find powerful, yet endearing. The truth always presents itself in a form that is peaceful to us, and if we are alert and aware, we eventually find the Source of our being is benevolent, present, and trustworthy.

Letter From God

I once read an adventure story in which the hero received a letter written by a mentor. He was to open the letter when he felt confused or needed direction or inspiration. What a great idea. Suppose God wrote a letter for me to read when I was down. I decided to write a letter from God, to inspire people who were at low points. I made copies, placed each one in a red envelope, and sent them to friends and family members.

The results were phenomenal. One of my friends said that the letter had greatly impacted her life. I asked at what point she had chosen to read it, and she replied that she had not read it yet. "Just knowing that I have the letter is comforting. Every time I have a problem and think of the letter, I feel better. I think that this problem is not so bad that I need the letter. I will save it for when I am in greater need." Other friends opened them when in distress and found much comfort. My daughter didn't even wait; she just opened the letter and put it on her refrigerator. Some friends sent copies to their friends. Regardless of whether you are in a crisis or in a great place, this letter is for you.

Precious One, I am with you. Resist the temptation to think that any condition in the outer world can rival my plans for your higher good. Even this thing you face now has no power to destroy your inner reality. It is here you dwell, here I dwell. We are one in the innermost regions of thought and feeling. You were created from an indestructible good that can never be altered, destroyed, or harmed. I am your sword and your shield. I protect you from all the lethal thoughts that drag you down and follow you from moment to moment. Ask not that I be with you during this time of need, but steadfastly affirm and give thanks that I am with you and that my power, through you, gives you strength, courage, and calmness.

I have prepared the way for your good. Receive you now the Holy Spirit, and know, that as you read these words, I am with you. My faith in you shall make you whole, and this burden shall be lifted.

With Great Love to You,

I Am Unconditional Love

Anne Quotes

"When I was young, I had a bevy of small blankets. I would place them in a certain order before bedtime. There was not one favorite blanket; I had five little ones I clung to. As we grow into adults, we no longer drag around security blankets, but we secretly long for something that brings comfort and security. At some point we figure out that a comfortable bed, flowers in the yard, and even our favorite foods cannot provide the comfort we long for. We long for real security and endless safety, and find that the only place that kind of safety resides is on the inside. If that is true, then spending time in contact with who we are needs to be a priority. The faster we go in outer world, the less safe we feel, but the more we go to the inner realms, the slower things become, and life then takes on a safe and timeless quality."

"Imagine you have on a pair of glasses whose lenses are not only scratched, they are cracked and smudged to the point you can barely see through them. No matter how much wisdom you have or inner vision you hold, your life would certainly be easier if you could just see where you are going. What we feed our minds serves as our life lens, and if we smear the lens with harshness, drama, and intrigue, we are sure to stumble in the dark."

"When we get our sense of worth from what we do, every mistake is potentially devastating. When our sense of worth comes from who we really are, mistakes can be acknowledged and easily dealt with, without defense or shame."

Let's use money as it's meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don't need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance.

What Am I Doing With My 50 Feet?

The following is an excerpt from my book, Standing in the Dark.

Does emotion influence its surroundings? And if so, how far does the emotional influence reach? Luther Burbank hooked up plants to a galvanic skin response device and found that plants do respond to human emotion. When plants were threatened, they had a violent reaction. He spoke loving words to a cactus, and over a period of time, the cactus dropped its thorns.

The HearthMath Institute conducted an experiment to measure the distance affected by human emotions. A subject, connected to a measuring device, sat in nature. He emoted. Intense emotions affected everything within a 50-foot radius. In other words, the monitor could detect changes in the plants fifty feet from the subject.

How impressive! When I stand up and turn around in a circle and look out, I can see my fifty feet. From any point I look, I affect at least 50 feet out. It’s a gift. I started thinking about my 50 feet. I have fifty feet to take care of. I can either bless or curse this space. So I started asking myself this question, "What am I doing with my 50 feet?" It’s amazing how large that can be – it’s really 100 feet in diameter: 50 feet in every direction. A lot of people can fit in my 50 feet. So I started taking care of the people in my 50 feet, by feeling love, compassion, or empathy for them. I give the gift of presence more, so as to make my 50 feet a warm and cozy oasis. When my mind goes on that wild ride, whether I’m alone or with someone, I remind myself that I don’t want to pollute my 50 feet. I want an energetically clean and clear space.

It’s a well-known mystical belief that when two or more gather and ask, it is done. Metaphysicians believe that when two people get together in mind or prayer, the cumulative effect is exponential. Two people joined intently in healing, affect fifty times fifty or a 2,500-foot radius. The power of two, three, and four can alter any situation. Now is the time for us to use our collective influence to bring peace to the planet, to create world-wide abundance and health, and to bring about planetary sustainability. It’s time to lead, as the embodiment of joy, ease, freedom, and love.

The idea of keeping our fifty feet clean gives us an immediate mission. A few days ago, I was in a Whole Foods store. I connected to the cashier, and when I left, I put my hand on the packer. I later asked my friend, "Did you see that?" She said "Yeah, what were you doing?" Response, "I was taking care of my fifty feet." Think about being at a concert with seats filled to capacity. Think about going through the lobby – new people; new kingdom.

What a gift and a responsibility. We have a fifty-foot kingdom that goes wherever we go. Our sphere of influence reaches thousands. What kind of energetic rulers do we want to be? Do we rule unconsciously or consciously? Let’s learn to be benevolent rulers, and remember to keep asking. "What am I doing with my 50 feet?"
