The Anne Report
Easter Treasures
Dear ,
This week we attended an egg hunt, went kayaking, cooked plenty, played with my adorable grand twins, ate scrumptious local seafood, traveled from South Carolina to the Houston area via car, and attended Easter services at Unity of Houston. Easter and spring flowers signal rebirth and new beginnings, but I seem to always be right in the middle, and I wouldn't have it any other way. There is no right way to live life, but it is important that when we do what ever it is we do, that we be there.

Anne Kayaking
Each moment can be a resurrection into a new and fresh opening and, task by task, thought by thought, the Universe opens the door of Now and invites us in. When I think that thought, of the Universe's and the Universal invitation to eternal Presence, the Infinite Now, my heart softens. My shoulders relax, and my breath deepens. Let's sink into the Infinite Now and do it NOW, because when we do, everything is EZier and EZier.

Acceptance
Can you imagine losing your home to fire? Each of us knows someone who has been touched by a fire loss. One of my friends, whose house burned, lived in an apartment while her home was being rebuilt. The apartment was next to a railroad track. She was not used to the noise, horns, and activity that trains create. At first it was annoying, but as time went by, she made peace with the sounds, and at some point they seemed like friends. When she returned to her resurrected quiet home, she missed the trains, the horns, and the sound of her friends clicking down the tracks at regular intervals.
This is a story of nonresistance and acceptance. If she had focused on the noises and stayed irritated with them, it would have been stressful on her and her husband, but she accepted her plight and was able to be in harmonious accord with her temporary surroundings.
Nonresistance and acceptance are different from resignation. When one is resigned to a situation, it means she is beaten down by the situation and feels helpless. People who are in abusive relationships often resign themselves to a miserable life. They feel unable to move into their power, and, in extreme cases, they cannot get out of abusive situations.
We have more slaves now than we did 150 years ago. While it is tragic that unimaginable abuse takes place, no one who reads this newsletter is in that position. Most of us can walk away from abusive systems and people and even fight for justice for those who cannot fight for themselves. We are in a position to make life EZier by not attacking life as it is. That's where acceptance or nonresistance comes in.
Acceptance is reserved for situations that we can't do anything about and when changing the way we view them will not put us in harm's way. There are situations we should never accept, such as physical abuse or heavy emotional battering, but acceptance is a tool that disarms the ego and provides a healthier emotional climate.
My friend accepted that every day at a certain time, the train would pass. She couldn't change that. She could move, but that would be a stressful alternative. She chose to make every day an EZier day.
We seem to think we have a right to be upset about any and every thing, and while this is true, we do have that right, how much does upset buy us? Upset usually pushes people away. That might be the payoff. When we stay a little ticked off and irritated with life, people stay away, and we feel safe in our loneliness. When we complain endlessly about things we can't change, it takes our focus off any real problems we may not want to deal with. Focusing on the small inconveniences provides a robust platform for denial.
While the topic of denial requires a book, the grace of acceptance is simple and easy. When we take our noses out of the air and realize that everything is the way it is and as it should be, we find that life is EZier and EZier.

Quotes
Anne Quotes
"The mind moves quickly across the stillness. It occasionally dips into its source, then arises refreshed, and continues its journey. The mind entertains us, scares us, heals us, props us up and puts us down. We think we are the mind, but what we know ourselves to be is the creative movements of the mind. Who we are is beyond the mind. Who we are is more than the body. Who we are cannot be whittled down to a definition. We find ourselves in the stillness."
"It's not easy to be with people who are under constant stress. They do not realize that they value the stress, and we don't realize their stress is contagious."
"In a world that pits us against each other and tells us that if we don't outperform others, we won't get our fair share, it's no wonder people give up and just let go of life. Young people are absorbent. They feel everything. They haven't numbed out. There's plenty of room at the top, but rivalry prevents sharing, even when there's more than enough. We teach children how to live on the bottom, then penalize them for it. We curtail children's natural aliveness and wonder why they grow up depressed."

"Some people use affirmations to reprogram the mind. Certainly we have reams of questionable material in our subconscious mind, but I prefer to think of the affirmations in the book as commands for more compassionate living, openings to greater possibilities, and templates for a brave new world." Healthy Living
Traveling Mercies
I love reflexology, self-massage, and acupressure. They are especially helpful when riding long distances. My husband, Jim, prefers to drive on our long trips. We rarely share the driving. This offers me plenty of leisure time. I'm writing this on our way through Georgia. I read, listen to audio books, and do reflexology and acupressure.
Movement. I start the trip with a face treatment. I tap along my eyebrows, giving about 20 taps to 4 equally spaced spots along my eyebrows. Then I tap, with both fingers, down the side of my nose, and end by vigorously rubbing the end of my nose. Next, I pull my ears up three times, out three times, and down by the lobes three times. Stroking upward, I rub my entire face and neck. It doesn't matter if these are done perfectly; I just want to get the energy moving. Throughout the trip I work on my entire body. Feet and hands are easily reached, and I rub and massage them. Lifting the shoulders and releasing also keeps the energy flowing.
Stop frequently. While some people are in a hurry or somehow think driving long distances without a break proves strength, we prefer stopping every two hours to stretch and take a potty break. This gets us moving and provides a mental change. Traveling should be enjoyable. It's not a task to conquer.
Drink healthy liquids. We stop often; therefore, I can drink plenty of liquids. It's best to drink warm or room temperature drinks, since the body is already under stress when traveling, and drinking cold liquids stresses the body. Today I am drinking lime/orange water. I use the juice from 1/2 lime and 1/2 orange plus some stevia, per three cups of water. This hydrates and provides vitamins and minerals.
Bring your own food. We used to stop and eat food from some road side place, but since we prefer organic, plant-based foods, there came a time when I decided there would be no more restaurant food when traveling by car. A nut butter sandwich on Ezekiel bread would be healthier than any fast food we could purchase, so we decided to take our food with us and stop at a rest stop to eat. We've done this many times, with great success, for years.
Vacation time is coming up. Try these simple ideas while traveling to ensure an EZier, healthier, and more enjoyable trip. If you can't take a vacation, take a staycation. We all need a break from our routine. Happy traveling.

Abundance Affirmations
Join Anne's New Facebook Group
This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let's create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let's use money as it's meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don't need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance.
