  The Anne Report

Practicing "Thy will be done"

Dear ,

What a week. The days go by swiftly. I found a new website: Whatintheheckhappenedtomyday.com (not a real website). Each day brings a surprise. Little Thomas, my grandson, had to go back to the hospital on Saturday. He woke up bleeding and his freaked out parents took him to the hospital. They had to play it down, as not to scare little Thomas, but I'm sure they were screaming inside. And GrandMaMa and GrandPoppy weren't doing too great either. The family spent the day in the emergency room and Thomas went home that night. He seems to be doing well. When it's our children, it is rough.

Sunday morning my daughter's church burned down. This is where the twins went to school. Now they will not be going to school any more this school year because their school was damaged too much. I know their teachers; my heart cries for their loss. The boy's rooms were filled with classmates' pictures and all kinds of crafts and supplies. It is a loss for the community and for the boys. The boys loved to go to school. They especially loved the cooking class.

Sunday, I spoke at a church near the coast, so Jim and I drove to the beach and had a lovely stroll. Back in The Woodlands, I attended the showing of PGS – Intuition Is Your Person Guidance System. The visionary behind the film, the director, and the producer were there. The director says we are transitioning from being a culture that uses intellect and logic to a culture that is guided by the PGS: Personal Guidance System. We are becoming a spirit based, intuitive culture. I think he's right. I've seen many changes in the spiritual landscape over the past 45 years. Thank God!

I'm in Nacogdoches for two days and will return Wednesday, in time for the noon meditation. It's been a long and interesting week. When I live my life with a "Thy will be done" attitude, I always know to secure myself to heaven and hang on for the ride. That's it for the Anne Report.

The Law of Attraction Versus Nonduality

I recently read a book by Richard Bach entitled, Hypnotizing Maria. Bach wrote Jonathan Livingstone Seagull and Illusions. The main character, Jamie Forbes, was a pilot who, in the beginning of the book, was able to assist a woman in landing a plane. Her husband lost consciousness and she hailed a mayday on the radio. Forbes was, coincidentally, flying in the vicinity. He felt a deep call that this was his to do. He found Maria's plane and flew along beside her. Through a use of suggestions, he coaxed her into a perfect landing. When Maria was interviewed about her ordeal, she responded, "It was like he hypnotized me."

Jamie's personal encounter with a hypnotist sparked a keen interest into hypnotism. He discovered that we are hypnotized from birth. First by our caretakers, then by others, until we lose autonomy and continue to echo the same suggestions to ourselves repeatedly, unless we wake up. His realization was so powerful that he even began to question death and ultimately was open to the idea that death is not what we've been hypnotized to believe. One night Jamie slept in the plane, and when he awakened, his first thought was that he was stiff and still tired. He noticed his thoughts immediately and restated his words, "I am fully awake and feel flexible and wonderful." Immediately he felt good. While this book is fictional, I have had the same experience on multiple occasions. When I suggest to myself that I feel physically bad, then hear what I'm saying to myself and reverse my position, miracles often occur.

Once, I was eating in my favorite restaurant and a nearby server fell. I heard a scream. People gathered around her. There was a physician in the restaurant who rushed to her assistance. I was distraught to learn that Charlie, who was my regular server, had broken her leg. I stood, and my date pushed me into the crowd. "Move over; she's a therapist. She knows what to do." I flinched, thinking, "What is he doing? I don't know what to do," but I moved along with him as he guided me through the crowd. Then I saw her. There was Charlie, on the floor, bleeding. She had a compound fracture. I bent down to hold her hand, with no idea what to do. As we touched, I knew what to do. "What about hypnosis?" my intuition nudged me. Without hesitation, I gave her strong suggestions to control the pain. The doctor worked on Charlie. I suppose she stopped the bleeding, but my attention was riveted on Charlie. My job was to keep Charlie calm, and, to my amazement, she calmed down. My words convinced her successfully that she could control her pain and that her body was willing to co-operate. It seemed like we were there for an eternity, but the ambulance finally arrived and took Charlie away. The doctor introduced herself and said, "I don't know who you are, but if I am ever in an accident, I want you around." While that was flattering, I couldn't take the credit. My intuitive self, my higher mind, reacted to the situation and activated the power of Charlie's mind. This was the most stunning and miraculous expression of hypnosis that I'd ever seen. I'd helped a doctor pass his medical exam (after failing it three times) and helped some people stop smoking, but this seemed like a Jesus and the laying on of hands experience.

The mind is amazing, and the masses are waking up to the Law of Attraction and the power of the mind. It's truly a new day in consciousness. Yet, there is a little twist. We often use the Law of Attraction (LOA) and the power of our minds to create situations that harm us. The outcomes of our manifestations are not the problem. The problem is that we stay in our heads so much we create an endless intellectual loop of mayhem and madness. It was easy to look around and see how many fundamentalist LOA people lived lives of superficial happiness and subconscious desperation, and I was one of them.

Such was my state of mind when I had an awakening experience. I had previously experienced the power of the mind in both powerful and sometimes startling ways. This awakening expelled me from the realm of helplessness, but, ultimately, I became a control freak. I had to be positive. I had to manifest a grand life. I had to be healthy all the time. Working the LOA, which wasn't even called the LOA at the time, was exhausting. Trying to fix everything that was wrong in both my inner and outer world, kept me from spontaneous and free living.

Back to the reawakening. It is called nonduality. I experienced the nondual nature of life in 1997. I stopped everything I was doing, closed my church, relaxed and settled into a nondemanding life style. I dropped the LOA and rested. When people talked about the LOA, I tuned them out. They were so excited about it, and I remember the early years, but I'd been burned. It took years to realize that the Law of Attraction was what I needed to maintain my physical life and the experience of life, and its non-opposing, or nondual nature, kept me real and connected to who and what I am. I needed them both.

It has been a journey of stopping and starting. I had to learn when to plan and when to surrender or to stand in radical awareness of life. My dreams and intuition have been my main guides. It is from the stillness and the nonduality of life, that my creativity and genius arise. The LOA is the servant to that process. It's an integration of awakening and action, this hybrid approach, and one that pairs two seemingly opposing approaches to living. Maybe, just maybe, you have navigated this dilemma. If you are in the middle of this realization, I don't think I can help. You are on your own, but if you are going through the change, that means that you are waking up to the next level, and you have both my admiration and sympathy. You are close; real close! Life is EZier when we share the pain and the gain. It's taken a while, but I've found that there is more gain than pain, and that life is EZier than we have imagined. I'm hoping we can continue this journey together in consciousness, because when we do, life becomes EZier and EZier.

"Some people use affirmations to reprogram the mind. Certainly we have reams of questionable material in our subconscious mind, but I prefer to think of the affirmations in the book as commands for more compassionate living, openings to greater possibilities, and templates for a brave new world."   Healthy Living

The Interconnectedness of Everything

Each week I write a Healthy Living column. I talk about food, toxic substances, mind and the place it holds in healing, or provide healthy recipes. All these things contribute to healthy living. Everything is connected. Our health is not measured just by whether our bodies work or not. Optimum health includes how we deal with others, how we take care of our bodies, our cars, our home, and our finances. Everything we think, say, and do is vibrational. Everything is connected. How do we take care of the earth? Do we contribute to the suffering of others? Do we treat ourselves and others with kindness? No act stands alone.

Everything is sacred, and when we only consider the effect everything has on us, rather than the effect we have on everything, we get sick. We get heart sick. We feel like something's missing, and what's missing is this connection to everything. All is sacred. There is nothing that can stand outside the interrelatedness of everything.

I saw a video that said that crows can remember someone who was mean to them, and when they migrate, they fly out of their way to avoid the place where this human was. The act of buying things we don't need, the act of letting good food go to waste, the act of poisoning insects and other species - all these are acts of blasphemy. And the blasphemy is against ourselves, because we are a part of everything, and when one thing or any system suffers, we suffer. We share the joy and suffering of everything, including microscopic life forms.

Some people want to build a wall on the Mexican border. Those that do, do not understand the wildlife that will be threatened because of this act. If the wall is built, it could mean extinction of the big cats and trouble for thousands of other animals. It will cut their food supply, their ability to migrate, and threaten their habitats. The fact that we can even think about building a wall shows how disconnected and wounded we are.

All disconnection comes from unhealed emotional wounds. Every politician should have to go through intense therapy and take a "Raising Your Self-Esteem" course before s/he takes office. We will continue to annihilate ourselves and our earth family until we dive into the world of self-healing.

While this is more of an Op Ed piece than healthy living; it is relevant. As I mentioned last week, Sunday, April 22nd, was Earth Day. We need a People Day, an Animal Day, a Fish Day, a Fungi Day – we need a Recognition of the Importance and Interconnectedness of All Life Day. We need a Self-Forgiveness Day. We need a Day of Innocence. We Need a Cease Fire Day, where every country in the world sets down their arms for one day. We need a Kindness Day.

Many people feel they have nothing to contribute to the world, but if you look at all the possibilities spawned from the problems above, you might find something that is yours to do. Good God, hold a Flower Day in your neighborhood to show off flowers. Unless we connect, we are going to continue down the path of separation. Get in there and connect. Your health depends on it. And when you do, you will find that everything can be EZier and EZier.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let's create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let's use money as it's meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don't need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance.
