  The Anne Report

Going With The Flow

Dear ,

While most of the people receiving this newsletter know about my focus, others are new to the newsletter and are not aware of EZosophy. EZosophy is a philosophy developed for demented, tormented, or overwhelmed folks, like myself, who want an EZier way. It is a call to awareness, and my attempt to separate the real from the made up. We make up suffering and then we suffer about it. Good grief! Or is grief really good? Maybe not, when it’s from the egoic mind. I've made my life EZier and simpler because there was no way I could handle life's real challenges AND my made-up stuff (MUS). The EZosophy Vows (pdf) offer a way out. Check them out, and if you are in for a real kick in the patootie, check out my book, EZosophy.

This week we took our almost annual tour of Texas wildflowers. Texans brag more about their wild flowers than they do their guns, and it's well-deserved, because they are amazing. Bluebonnet season is almost a holiday around here. This year the flowers were hearty and plentiful. Jim and I head toward the Brenham area and stop along the way, to gush and take photos. Washington on the Brazos, where the Declaration for Texas Independence was signed, is on our stop. We end the tour each year with a trip to the Blue Bell Creamery. One can get an embarrassing sized scoop of their finest for one dollar. It's a treat for us almost vegans – the ones who step away from the food plan on occasions. I ate Moo-lennium Crunch. I won't try to describe it – scrumptious will have to do.

I ended the week by speaking about synchronicity at Unity of the Woodlands. I am obsessed by the phenomena that pits the Universe for us. While Murphy has his law, the spirit of love has a bigger and better law: synchronicity. Stephen Hawking, who recently passed away, speculated the following:

  1. The degree to which one is in harmony with the Universe can be measured by an intensified flow of synchronicity.
  2. Synchronicity may provide a new foundation for ethics: instead of actions being classified as right or wrong, the new criterion will be the extent to which they are developmentally appropriate, as measured by an increased or decreased flow of synchronicity.
  3. If synchronicity is understood as an empirically-based aspect of divine providence, one can envision ascending levels of providential care and invulnerability that depend on the degree to which one follows inner and outer (synchronistic) guidance.

I like the way that man thought. Goodbye, Stephen. We will miss you.

How to Mine Life's Meaningful Coincidences

Last week I went for my annual physical. I was in a wonderful mood but noticed the receptionist didn't look as if she was enjoying herself. I stood in line and watched her hand out buzzing signal devices, the kind they use in restaurants, to the next person in line. Each left, buzzer in hand, and sat down in Area C. It felt like Star Trek.

I felt wonderful and desired to impart some of my cheer. I wanted her to be happy. I started sending the receptionist love and blessings. I imagined her laughing and feeling good. My mind screeched my thoughts to a halt. I know better. I've been here before. My intuition told me that she didn't need me sending her feel good vibes. I needed to love her unconditionally. I needed to see her perfection, regardless of her mood. I must accept her exactly as she was. I stood and said a different kind of silent prayer. "I see the wonder of you, just as you are. I see your perfection. I feel life's bliss, regardless of what you think, feel, or say. You can be who you are, feel like you feel, and I can feel amazed at the perfect being you are." The moment was saved. She was okay, just as she was, and I was okay too. It was a prayer of release, not a prayer of burden. It was not my responsibility to make her feel good, but it is my mission to love everything in the moment, the way it is.

Recently I read an article in which the author talked about how mutual events turn strangers into family. He was at a spiritual convention and commented on how people just walked up to people and interacted. He was sad to leave. I've had the same experience, but when returning home, I play a game. I imagine everyone I see was at the same convention.  We have an inner permission to be friendly and to interact. Sometimes I lose myself in the game and speak to strangers. It always works. I don't try to speak to people or figure out what to say; I just follow my inner inklings and respond in a natural way. People like interaction, and I feel safer and happier.

Last night I noticed that the woman in front of me at the checkout line was parked beside me. The Law of Attraction got my attention, and I spoke to the woman, "We were beside each other in the checkout line and we are parked beside each other. Maybe we should talk." And we did, for 20 minutes. She is writing her family's story and wanted some input to the process. When we parted, she had my business card and had invited me to tea. I don't know if anything will come from our talk, but for those 20 minutes, we were comrades on the adventure of life.

James Redfield's book, The Celestine Prophecy, has nine insights. Insight One deals with meaningful coincidence. More and more people are waking up. This results in strangers meeting in some sort of synchronous destiny. The book advises us to be open to chance meetings and conversations, saying that they are not chance meetings. They are destiny. A later book, The Celestine Vision, includes 12 Celestine Insights.

While we know about the order of the universe and the Law of Attraction, we often stay too wrapped up in our phone screens or in our inner illusory dialogue to answer the call taking place before us. We are connected. There are no strangers, only family that we haven't yet met. When we reach out to strangers, whether through sending energy or speaking directly to them, we mend the tear in humanity. We need to reach out in ways that honor those we meet, not in ways that marginalize them. We don't need to participate in codependent spirituality. We need to relate to others as if they come to give us a blessing – the blessing of their being, and we connect with them to do the same. Let's pay attention, reach out, and connect to our human family, because when we do, our lives become EZier and EZier.

Quotes

"Whatever you resist, you become. If you resist anger, then you are always angry. If you resist sadness, you are always sad. If you resist suffering, you are always suffering. If you resist confusion, you are always confused. We think we resist certain states because they are there, but actually, they are there because we resist them."
-- Adyashanti

"Buddha is reported to have said that a meditator loses all the questions. A moment comes when there are no questions left. It's not that one gets the answers; he gains wisdom. Wisdom is an unfolding of consciousness. Not that you come to know something, but that you begin to experience life in its totality."
-- Osho (Words may not be exact, but close.)

"Once we see the absurdity of our mind training, we take on different kinds of training to set ourselves free. More of what built the prison will not liberate us. Our liberation is only found in the unmitigated experience of Now and the experience of the ongoing ever-present freedom we dwell in. We are already free. As Papaji said, 'Wake up and roar.' Claim your freedom, now."

"Some people use affirmations to reprogram the mind. Certainly we have reams of questionable material in our subconscious mind, but I prefer to think of the affirmations in the book as commands for more compassionate living, openings to greater possibilities, and templates for a brave new world."   Healthy Living

Pardon me, Roy. Is that the Chattanooga Chew Chew?

Mira Dessy knows a lot about food. She hosts a great website, The Ingredient Guru, and a Facebook page, The Ingredient Guru.

She's given me permission to share her tips and the one below applies to everyone.

Did you know that not chewing your food properly can negatively affect your health? When you chew, you release enzymes and you break your food down to smaller particles, so your body can properly digest it and extract nutrients that you need to be healthy. If you don't chew properly, you don't release enough salivary enzymes. You also create larger chunks for your gut, making it harder to break down and possibly causing bloating, gas, and other digestive disturbances. So, cut your food to bite size pieces and chew.

Thanks, Mira, for that great tip. Here are a few other tips on digestion:

  • Walk for ten minutes after each meal. I've put this in the newsletter before and had several positive reactions. We often think of exercise as weight control and for its benefits for the heart and lungs, but walking is good for the gut too.
  • Take digestive enzymes. The older we get, the less efficient our digestive system. Pop a digestive enzyme with your meals and you will improve bio assimilation.
  • Take probiotics. They contribute to healthy gut bacteria. These friendly gut bacteria break down foods and deliver them to our body for assimilation. They help the body make better use of the nutrients provided in our food.
  • Stay hydrated. We need water to digest solid food. Best to take our water between meals, so as not to dilute stomach acids that are vital to digestion.
  • Turn off the TV and be with your food when you eat it. Be mindful. Okay, I don't do this. A couple of years ago my husband and I started eating in front of the TV for our evening meal. I have never done that. Now we are used to this ritual. It is a tough habit to break, especially when you are not trying to break it. We are like Pavlov's dog. Get out our dinner and turn on an episode of "This is Us."

Good digestion is important to our health. Hopefully we will all improve our eating habits, even if it's just chewing a bit longer. Bon Appetit.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let's create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let's use money as it's meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don't need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance.
