Merry Christmas!

The Anne Report, Merry Christmas, reminds us to not allow Ego Driven Struggle (EDS) to mar our joyful holidays. The Main article, Winter Solstice: From Darkness to Light, describes how Mithra and Jesus both epitomized the transition from darkness to light, from suffering to joy. The Healthy Living article, Conscious Carols, mentions the benefits of singing and then gives you some of Anne's unique Christmas carols. The Anne Talk, EZosophy with Anne Sermons Gillis: A plan for ending Ego Driven Suffering (EDS), shows how we can overcome the four kinds of EDS. The Featured Product This Month is Anne's book, Words Make a Difference. Click to read What is EZosophy? Click to join Anne's Abundance Affirmations. Click for Shareables From Anne.

  The Anne Report

Merry Christmas

Dear ,

Christmas. While Christmas is the big day, the day is almost anticlimactic. Hallmark movies fade today; unfortunately I didn't make enough time for them, floor strewn toys abound, and tummies protrude. The waiting period is over for munchkins who wrote to Santa and counted the days before the big arrival. Much of Christmas is the preparation and anticipation. Yep, to pull out a trite expression, it's about the journey, not the destination.

One of my Christmas traditions is to share the following poem. I've been trotting it for years. I love it today as much as I did when I wrote it. It's about ego driven suffering. All holidays bring out goodness, but false suffering is insanely popular at the end of the year. Here's my holiday classic.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas
(Tune of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas)

It was the night before Christmas and all through our centers
Anticipation was growing for us and our mentors.
Our consciousness was raised to an all-time high,
'Cause we knew that the Christ mind would soon be nigh.
Our hearts' lights were shining, our faces were cheery,
No room in the mind for thoughts that were dreary.

And all of the sudden there arose the mind chatter,
That said we were stupid and that we didn't matter.
The voice of the ego had popped up again,
And said we were guilty, and all born in sin.
It ranted and raved and caused such a fuss,
That we doubted our Christ minds to the point that we cussed.

On guilty, on sleazy, on dummy, on lazy.
The ego drove our minds 'til we felt sort of crazy.
Then depressed and deflated, we sat in a heap,
With all our enlightened thoughts going to sleep.

We started to pray, we started to ask,
For a different perception, for freedom at last.
Forgiveness was offered and innocence too
And before we all knew it, our Christ minds renewed.
In one holy instant our knowingness came
And we felt the presence of Christmas again.

We head to the Charleston area tomorrow to see the grandchildren. We can't wait. Have a wonderful day, and make each day the day you dreamed it could be. Cut out the waiting period and just be happy right now. Prepare yourself for the present and walk into the uncontrollable moment of life and you will find that everything becomes EZier and EZier.

Winter Solstice: From Darkness to Light

I started an Abundance Affirmations group on Facebook one year ago. I kept getting a cosmic kick, so I finally gave in. I post a saying or link every day and close the night off with a Dr. Money video post. I brand myself as Dr. Money, and even though I am not a money expert, I know about our dysfunctional relationship with money and have experienced abundant living.

The site is about much more than money, but it doesn't shy away from addressing the "M" word. Two affirmations emerged over the past year. They invoke prosperity and abundance. The first is, "I have what I need when I need it." The second is a song: "Happy, healthy, wealthy, and blessed; every day is better than the last." This line is sung twice. The two affirmations speak of a benevolent safety that exists for all who allow it in their world.

The heart of abundance rests in the profound knowing that we don't have to prepare for every eventuality. The universe has our backs. Yes, I exercise so my body will be healthy, but I don't have to spend each moment figuring out how to devise a master plan that will protect me from destruction. I act, but it is a guided, intelligent action, not an efforting, burdensome endeavor. When action comes from the intellect, it is often laborious. When action comes from our natural intelligence, it is easier. EZosophy speaks to living flow. EZosophy and prosperity are partner aspects of the same great Source.

Another integral partner of abundant living is intuition. A few days ago, I kept thinking I had to sweep the leaves out of the garage. I awakened one morning to find our housemate sweeping the garage. He cleans up after himself, but this activity was unusual. I spoke with him later and thanked him for sweeping. He replied, "I don't know why, but when I was in the garage, I just kept thinking that I needed to sweep." His intuition kicked in as a response to my thought of having to sweep the garage. My affirmation, "I have what I need when I need it" was fulfilled once more.

Yesterday I was thinking about what I would write in the newsletter. I had one idea roll in, but I told the Universe, "I don't want to write about that. What else you got?" I started thinking about my Abundance Affirmations group and heard the word, "Mithra." It was a strong thought. I looked it up and found that it is an aspect of the sun that is friendly. Over the years, Mithra consciousness has emerged in many religions. There was a Persian derivative Mithra, who was a "benevolent god" and the bestower of health, wealth, and food. Wow, that's what I write about on the Abundance Affirmations group – getting those needs met. The Universe's timing was impeccable.

I'm writing this on the 21st. The sun woke up at noon today; it’s the solstice. It is the exact time of the reversal of the Sun’s ebbing presence in the sky. The day is often thought of as the year being reborn. Knowing this, I, along with three others, were able to stop at noon and picture the world as we would like it to be. We imagined the collective world and our individual worlds as whole, abundant, and peaceful.

Approximately 3,500 years ago, the people who recognized the sun as a giver of life began to personify this aspect of the sun. It was called Mithra. Mithra became a god. Mithra's birthday was on the day of the winter solstice, but eventually it became Dec. 25. Mithra signifies the coming of the light. Mithra was said to have been born of a virgin and he had twelve disciples. He was identified with the lion and the lamb and was called the Good Shepard. His special day was Sun-day, since he was the embodiment of the sun. In later years Mithra began his dissent into a warrior god or as an unconquerable god. It was clear how the idea of war and domination slowly influenced the Greco-Roman version of Mithra. This is very comparable to Jesus being depicted by some in today's world as Rambo.

Just as a voice often speaks to me about what to write in the newsletter, consciousness speaks to the people. When people pray to the sun, the message arrives in the form of Mithra. Who brings the message is never the important part. The Source wants the message to come through. Constantine thought he was serving himself by popularizing Christianity, even persecuting and killing those who believed differently. Suppose he was chosen to continue the age-old message of the abundant nature of life, the power of belief, and the forgiveness and release of our mistakes.

Jesus spoke, "I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly." Mithra was the bestower of wealth; he supported abundant living. The worship of Mithra purified and freed the devotee from sin and disease, as it does with Jesus. This idea brings the power to release and free humanity from their personal shame and guilt. It is the belief in health over sickness. This message, whether it be from Mithra or Jesus, is one that consciousness wanted to survive.

People argue over the details of religion, thus missing the message. They fail to understand the power and transformative nature of mythology and mystery. Moralists argue logic and fact. Practitioners of the heart rest in the Divine. They embrace the true nature of prosperity. We have what we need when we need it; therefore, we can be happy, healthy, wealthy and blessed, while continuing to open to our higher good. We don't need to argue over Mithra versus Jesus. The question we must ask is, "What does consciousness bring through Mithra's story? What does consciousness bring through Jesus' story?" When we ask those questions, we become the magi: the magicians of consciousness. We bring light to the dark. We conjoin with spirit, to create a fair and just world. We see beyond the event and into the purity of life itself. We are called to consciousness, and how we react to the call will determine whether our lives are EZier or more challenging. I say "Down with Hard Attacks" because when we follow the divine message in any form through which it appears, life becomes EZier and EZier.

Merry Christmas. Celebrate the coming of the light, because the light is the real reason for the season!

  Healthy Living

Conscious Carols

There are physical, emotional, and psychological benefits to singing. Singing boosts our immune systems, helps us sleep better, lowers our stress level, and is a natural anti-depressant. You would think everyone would be singing all the time, but singing has lost its place in our society. People make fun of others when they sing: "You couldn't carry a tune in a bucket." There's underlying seriousness that tells us we live in a problematic society. This somberness lurks at every corner.

Some cultures have singing built in. Many religions sing their prayers or chant. I've found that people are more willing to sing when they know the melody to a song. So when I wanted to incorporate singing into my workshops and lectures, I chose tunes most people were familiar with. I call these songs conscious carols. I include them each year in the newsletter. They never get old. Sing them: your health may depend on it.

Anne's Conscious Carols

Joy to the World
(Tune of Joy to the World)

Joy to the world, the time has come, to have a little fun.
We frowned and frowned,
our smiles are upside down.
We've been too serious,
we've been too serious,
We've been, we've been too serious.

We came to earth to have some fun
and laugh and sing and dance.
We brought our light to bring delight
and not be serious, and not be serious,
and not, and not be serious.

We choose today to come alive
and joke and laugh and play.
We pledge our light to shine so bright.
And not be serious, and not be serious, and not, and not be serious.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let's create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let's use money as it's meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don't need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance.
