Here's Anne Sermons Gillis' 02/19/2019 newsletter, The EZ Secret: Tips on Living in EZ

Published: Tue, 02/19/19

The Anne Report, Dare to be Different, celebrates some people who dared to live differently and it reminds us that we can drop some of our seriousness and live differently too. The Main article, What's in the Cards and How do we React to them?, shows us how, when life deals us a bad card, we can sometimes choose a better one or improve the card we were dealt. The Healthy Living article, Massage Balls, explains how to use two tennis balls to relieve back and lower neck tension. The Anne Talk, Obesity is a Mindset, is an interview of Anne by John DePass, a fitness coach who teaches about weight loss, healing, and improving performance in any area of your life. It's a great conversation about how we can use spiritual insights to help reshape our body and any other area of our life. The Featured Product This Month highlights Anne's 5 Books.   The Anne Report

Dare to be Different

Dear ,

Does anyone remember Twiggy, the model? She was ultra-thin. Her eyes were painted with black lines that served as overstated eyelashes. Her face was doll-like. She was a British cultural icon in the 60's. Then there was Tiny Tim and his falsetto voice. Night show hosts were eager for this 60's ukulele singer to appear on their shows. Tiny Tim even performed on the Ed Sullivan Show. Performing on his show would put a singer or actor at the top of his or her game.

These references date me, but let's look at Lady Gaga. She personifies the word "different." From her hair to her clothes, she stepped into the world of music as an anomaly. Maybe she was tamer than Twisted Sister, another dated reference, but Lady Gaga made people go "ga ga." She had the moves and the voice. It wasn't until I saw videos such as this one on women's suffrage that I took notice of Lady Gaga.

Last week I heard Lady Gaga say, at the opening of the Grammy's, "They said I was weird. That my look, that my choices, my sound, that it wouldn't work, but music told me not to listen to them. Music took my ear, took my hand, my voice, and my soul, and it led me to all of you and my little monsters, whom I love so much." Gaga won three Grammy's that night.

We all have something different about us. Maybe when our creative weirdness, uniqueness, or our differentness shine, it leads to celebration, not separation. We need people who go to the extremes to lead the way for us. We need time off from being somber adults so we can walk on the wild side. I'm applauding these people who dared to appear outrageously weird, because they provide guidelines for the terminally serious and remind us that when we follow our inner call, life bows before us. It's up to us. Will we follow my Vows of Seriousness or will we dare to be different?

What's in the Cards and How do we React to them?

I have a deck of prosperity cards. The word "cards" is not spot on, because they are not playing cards. They are more like business cards – the business of prosperity. They offer advice on one side and an affirmation on the other. I drew a card I didn't like. I put it back and drew another card. I liked the second card. Why not draw another card? I wanted to luxuriate in a prosperous thought that moment, and the card I drew wasn't providing the juice I wanted.

Those cards are like life. When life deals us a card we don't like, we can either pull another card or color the one we have with love and beauty, thus transforming our experience of the card and the hand we were dealt.

I once had a client who demanded several hundred dollars back in fees. The ultimatum arrived by letter. I might understand if someone was dissatisfied with a session and said she wasn't going to pay, but this person had been to ten sessions. These were long breathwork sessions, so I had spent more than 20 hours with her. I knew a person who had a similar experience with her. Things were going well with them, then abruptly, she turned on him. Without revealing the details, I asked him if he would join in prayer with me for this person. He was glad to, since his relationship with her was strained. I didn't respond to her letter, and every day I pictured her as happy and feeling great. He did the same.

Two weeks later I received a letter of apology from her. She said she had talked with someone who thought breathwork was not effective, and even though she received a lot from our sessions, she felt like a fool after listening to this person. The person who informed her was ill-informed, and I wasn't even using the same methodologies she spoke of. She had threatened litigation, and now her anger was gone and she even thanked me for working with her. I was thrilled.

This situation could have gone differently. I could have acted in haste; maybe called her and defended myself. I could have counter-threatened her, but I didn't. I joined with another and we sent love. I didn't allow myself to worry about the outcome. When I thought of her, I kept my mind on gratitude and safety. Even though I was dealt a card I didn't like, I chose to not stomp on it. I colored it with love and beauty. AND it worked.

Here are the steps I took.

  • The initial problem presented itself.
  • I took no outer action. I waited.
  • I took inner action. I joined with another person and we did prayer and visualization. (Working with another gives us support and helps keep us calm.)
  • I waited.
  • I saw results. (If the problem is not solved, then we have to deal with the next steps we must take, but, chances are, if we keep ourselves in a state of harmony, the problem will go away.)

Another example occurred when I was an insurance agent. I had to take cash from customers. I was not perfect at reconciling the money I took in with the exact amount I was supposed to have. If I was a dollar short, I would add a dollar. If there was an overage, I took the extra money out.

Our managers came in and did periodic audits. They were conducted every six months, but, for some fortunate reason, my audit never came. One day my luck ran out, and my manager came to audit me. If I was off by even a few cents, I would be fired on the spot. I was always off a few cents! I didn't panic and just stayed in a harmonious mood. I knew this would probably be my last day at this job. The phones started ringing and several people stopped by for quotes or to make payments. I was alone and so busy that he graciously helped me out. He left and said he would do the audit another day. I worked for the company more than five years and was never audited. I've found that when I remain calm and focus on feeling safe and protected, that things tend to work out for me.

We cannot always chose the cards we are dealt, but we can decide how to play them, and when we do, we find that life becomes EZier and EZier.

Massage Balls

Do you have tight shoulders? It's not unusual. A deep tissue massage is heaven's touch to our back and lower neck. But suppose you need relief now and you need it often? Here's a solution.

Tennis Ball      Tennis Ball

  • Get two tennis balls.
  • Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet on the floor in front of you.
  • Place the two tennis balls beside your upper shoulder blades. The balls would be between the top angle of the scapula and the spine. This is the spot where a group of muscles converge.
  • Lift your butt off the ground and use your feet to move your body around. The balls should move around and press deep into the muscles. You can vary the pressure.
  • Getting up from the floor is easy if you turn over to your right side and then push yourself up with your hand. Of course, if you can't get up and down from the floor, forget this. Go directly to a masseuse or masseur!

This technique is not for everyone. You know how much pressure your back can take and maybe this is too hard on your back, but for me, it's a life saver.

Remember to be smart when you take suggestions from others. Listen to your body's wisdom, because when you do, life is EZier and EZier.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let's create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let's use money as it's meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don't need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance.
