  The Anne Report

Taming Life’s Hustle and Bustle

Dear ,

It’s been a whirlwind week with our grandchildren, but, sadly, it’s over. While Grandpoppy and I did not cry when they left, the boys shed tears at having to leave. It is tough to see them go, and seeing their tears makes it more so. While it strokes my ego to have them cry a tear or two, I know that the next interesting thing they see will return them to joy.

Children live close to the moment. On the way to the airport, we passed a Ferris wheel. Reynolds yells, “Look, there’s a fairest wheel.” This inventive language goes on daily. They watch a show that regularly features moldy watermelons and it took a while to translate their interpretation: muldymelons.

We continue to clean the house to get ready for pictures on Friday. The house goes on the market April 8. This week cleaning; next week taxes. Fingers crossed.

I need the EZosophy philosophy more than ever, because when change is afoot, the fluidity of life feels threatening. I brand myself as Dr. Money on the Abundance Affirmations page. The affirmation that rules that page is, “I have what I need when I need it.” I use this frequently, because when the mind freaks out over the unknown, this affirmation reminds us that we don’t need to handle the minute details of life. That’s great news, because we can’t handle all the details. I consider this affirmation a prosperity affirmation and an EZosophy affirmation. And that’s it for the Anne Report.

The Miracle Standard Plan

A few years ago, I read the Satyagraha vows* and contemplated the vow of poverty. When I was young, I took the vow by mistake. I tried living in the material world. I pushed the envelope of being upwardly mobile and eventually sank into misery. My spirit screamed for relief. If being material was the problem, I would dematerialize. I disconnected from the world that pushed for success, power, and control. I lived on the thin line of what some would call poverty.

I didn’t feel poor; I was just often out of cash. I paid the minimum on credit cards and had to pay less on one thing to make the payment on another. I called it The Miracle Standard Plan. I trusted that life was as it was supposed to be and that my life and the life of those I loved was protected by a mystical force that would provide.

When I ran out of money for groceries or was very low on cash, something unexpected would happen and food appeared. Once I attended a party and the hostess sent me home with bags of leftovers. I felt wealthy. The Miracle Standard Plan always came through. I didn’t just expect miracles, I counted on them. There was a strange attraction to this kind of lifestyle. The intensity of the money drama made me come alive.

A Shift

Ultimately, I wasn’t suited for the life I created. It was nerve wracking at times and I was growing older. The starry-eyed wonder of my youth was gone, and the lessons of youth were replaced by pragmatism. I decided to reverse my decision to count on God for my daily bread. God was probably counting on me to make better decisions. I halted my globetrotting, saved some money, focused on receiving more money, repaired my house, and moved away from the hand to mouth kind of life. I took care of business – the business of living and its maintenance.

On a past flight to Costa Rica, I met a woman who reminded me of a younger me. She told story after story of how the right thing happened in her life at the right time. These events included providing livelihood in new situations and finding places to live. She was an actress in Italy for a while. She had just moved from Costa Rica (CR) to New Orleans, but she kept her business in CR and was coming back to check on her enterprise. She was alive and full of the radiant zeal, and she was not a youngster.

Unexpected Blessing

One morning, while on the CR trip, I couldn’t find my plantain chips. I wanted something salty but just dismissed the thought because I knew I wasn't going to get a chip. I must have left them somewhere along the way. Later I walked down the beach and a vendor approached with some enigmatic fruit. I told him I didn’t have any money with me, and he put some salt on the fruit, squirted lime over it, and handed it to me. “Just because you have no money does not mean you should not eat. My father told me about the revolution in Cuba. People were hungry and had no money, so they could not eat, but others had money, but there was no food and they could not eat. Everyone should be able to eat. Take this and eat. He repeated to me that everyone should be able to eat.” I kissed his rugged cheek and then bowed to him. “Thank you, master.”

Again, the hand of love grabbed me and reminded me of the continual sustenance of life. Even though I had no money that moment, I was gifted with a delicious, salty treat. I no longer need all the miracles that saw me through my younger years, but it seems they are still in escrow, just waiting for a summons. I think The Miracle Standard Plan is still terrific, and, as for me, I’m not going to just expect miracles, I’m going to depend on them, and I am sure that will make my life EZier and EZier.

Affirmations for Pura Vida

“Your mind has to keep spinning to hold your version of reality together.” Gangaji

Pura Vida is Spanish for “pure life,” but in Costa Rica it is used as a greeting, a synonym for excellence, or a symbol of “The good life.” These affirmations are singing words that invite us to savor life and live the life of Pura Vida.

  • I awaken each day fully expectant of amazing experiences and events.
  • Each moment is miracle-filled.
  • I have a tremendous ability and capacity to experience the ongoing miracle of life.
  • Bliss is my natural state.
  • I accept the magic and miracle of daily life.
  • My life overflows with grace.
  • I celebrate the beauty of living.
  • I am aware of the profound synchronicities that abound in my life.
  • I am vibrantly alive, profoundly safe, and powerfully present.
  • Millions awaken to the blessing of being alive.
  • Hopelessness and helplessness are dissolving as people awaken to extraordinary levels of support.
  • This is a new day for everyone on the planet. Everyone receives a slice of goodness, safety, and peace.
  • Mother Earth is the crucible for infinite well-being.
  • Good vibrations reverberate in all of humanity, in the animal kingdom, in the plant kingdom, and all other living systems.

We have the capacity to rest our minds in nurturing words and thoughts. Thoughts are things; they move our lives in many directions. Which direction do we plan to go? Toward vitality and joy or toward drama? Asking and answering this question keeps us in the flow of what we want and wakes us up to our true heart’s desire. Our thoughts are the delivery system for sanity or mayhem. Deep peace and Pura Vida is ever present and always available, but when we are asleep or unconscious, inspiring thoughts can pull us past the egoic mind and deliver us into a land of serenity. When we are at peace, we can savor life and no inspiring is necessary, but when we feel hopeless, words and thoughts become beacons that light our way back home.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let's create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let's use money as it's meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don't need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance.
