  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

Jim and I attended the fireworks in The Woodlands. We sat in the VIP section of the park because our friend, Carol, is a local official. There was a wonderful spread and the fireworks gleamed on the lake as they made a grand show for spectators.

As we left, my friend remarked, “I wonder how many people we could have fed with the money spent on fireworks, the band, and the security?” She was the volunteer of the year at the food bank last year, and once you’ve seen large numbers of hungry people, your values change. I pondered her great question. There’s always a small hint of sadness when I attend events like this, because our pleasure comes at such a high expense. As we walked to our cars in the smoke, I said, “I wonder how much pollution this caused. What about all the wild animals who were frightened and the animals at home, who cowered in fear? Who knows how the fish reacted?” I was happy that what I thought might be my cynicism about such events was shared by my friend.

I might be in the wrong world. I see animals mistreated, pollution, and cruelty. I see sensible people doing insensible things, and I am appalled. I see closed hearts, a planet that is all but on fire, and the abuse of power. I see greed, arrogance, and insanity. So where’s the but? The but comes now -  but I can’t see only these things. There is love, compassion, innovation, jubilation, and celebration. I am called to acknowledge and learn from the pain or to bring it to justice, but, I am also called to be compassionate and responsible. I am called to lean into the spirit of joy. Just as I must acknowledge the tragedies of life, I am called to fuel myself with the treasure and pleasure of living. Life does not turn on itself, and I can’t turn on life.

It is our responsibility to navigate life, and if we are to be successful at living, we must live with finesse and wisdom. Whoever said, “I never promised you a rose garden,” may have been a master with words, but they didn’t know that the rose garden is alive and well. It is in the inner dimensions. And when we realize this, even the tragedies we face are lined with grace and forgiveness. And that’s it for the Anne Report.

Intuition

The writing gods know that I write my newsletter on Fridays. I send a message to my subconscious mind and beyond, to provide information for my articles. I pay attention to my thoughts as I awaken, because potential material starts flowing through as soon as my eyes open. This morning the topic speaking to me was intuition. I resisted the thoughts and discounted the material. It’s been overdone. Not that! I did not take out a notebook to start the writing process. “Intuition: not a subject I’m going to write about.”

My next thought: “I meant to download that pdf copy of Unplugging the Patriarchy. I might like to reread it. I loved that book. It held my attention and made me think.” I opened my computer, downloaded the pdf, and read the introduction.

These words confronted me: “All of us are psychic at birth. Living in an age that worships reason, however—one in which we are constantly programmed to deny or, at best, belittle this precious gift—very few of us retain our psychic abilities beyond childhood. Most of us, if we are so inclined, must relearn this skill, an undertaking that has engaged me for more than a quarter century.”

Hum, I guess I will write about intuition. And that’s the way intuition works: it points us in a direction we need to go. Intuition is peaceful; it poses no harm to others or self and sometimes takes us out of harm’s way. It works with the current circumstances and doesn’t tangle us in a web of complication. Intuition follows the laws of physics. It’s not this splashy thing. It fits into ordinary life.

People often recoil from the word “psychic.” It conjures up a gypsy. The most famous word from gypsy is gypped. When you are gypped, it means you have been naïve enough to believe something, and that belief has led to loss. Really? Must we court doubt and cynicism at every turn? The word psychic comes from the Greek word psyche. Psyche means “soul.” The word psychic means of the soul.

We can call it intuition or psychic, but, to simplify, it’s extended knowing. It’s knowing something when we have not received direct information about a topic or situation.

Mystics and scientists speak of this extended knowing. Yogananda, an acclaimed spiritual teacher, said, “Long concentration on the liberating spiritual eye has enabled the yogi to destroy all delusions concerning matter and its gravitational weight; thenceforth he sees the universe as an essentially undifferentiated mass of light.” His statement speaks of non-local mind, the intuitive mind.

Einstein said, “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

Some call the pineal gland the third eye or the seat of intuition. Plato believed the third eye or gland was worth a thousand corporal eyes, because only there could the truth be known.

What is the source of our intuition?

  • Intuitive hunches can come from the subconscious mind. The mind can organize things at this level in a way that brings a deeper knowing than what we could produce with our reasoning mind.
  • Our intuitive knowing can come from other people. We read minds. We are human radios broadcasting signals and others are radios broadcasting their thoughts. We read individuals and groups. Groups have thoughts – such as life is dangerous – and this fear is broadcast. Get around a group of fearful people and even if no one says anything, you start having paranoid thoughts. I was thinking of an author and I picked up a piece of paper in my yard and on it was typed the name of the man I was thinking about. Later that day I found the writer had died that same day. The information rambles in the ethers, waiting for a receiver. The group mind is called the collective unconscious. All the thought forms of all humans, including ancestral memory, is stored in the collective unconsciousness. It is, to a group, as the subconscious is to the individual.
  • We get information from our superconscious mind, which is also known as Cosmic Intelligence, Higher Intelligence, or God. When we are connected to the superconscious, we have access to thoughts at all levels of creation. This takes into account the subconscious of the individual, the collective unconscious of the human collective, and the thoughts from Higher intelligence. These thoughts are not in thoughts like humans think. They are creative energies that filter down from informed and intelligent light and sound, to something we can experience. It is our higher knowing. This connection makes our lives easier, connects us to prosperity, and keeps us safe.

When I start a new course of action or want help from higher realms, I often write a covenant. Here’s a copy of my covenant for intuition.

  • I am open to intuitive guidance. I expect and trust my guidance and judiciously act from my intuition. I sign and date my intuition covenant.

Here’s my affirmation for intuitive guidance.

  • Here’s my affirmation for intuition. I love this one. It’s a good affirmation to use as I start my day. My intuitive guidance provides a day-to-day plan that serves the planet, blesses me with financial abundance, and allows spontaneity and creative expression.

While the use of intuition sounds a little woo woo in our culture, it’s actually the use of our logical mind alone that is absolutely crazy. Why use unassisted thinking when the wonders of the universe are all around?

It was said that after Muhammad, the prophet’s revelation did not descend upon anyone else. Did wisdom stop with our biblical writings? Our sacred texts? Our prophets? No. Why would Infinite Intelligence cut itself off, and how could it even do that? Can the sun stop shining at will? Everyone is informed by the Infinite. We may not call it the prophet’s revelation, but there is only one source, and that source reveals to all who hear and all who see.

Rumi questions this limit and says, “‘The believer sees with the Light of God.’ … When the believer looks with God’s Light, he sees all things: the first and the last, the present and the absent. For how can anything be hidden from God’s Light?” And so it is with our intuition. There’s nothing hidden; it is the light with which we look that sees all, and when we use our higher knowing to look and see, everything becomes EZier and EZier.

Suppose someone told you that you could change your life radically, for the better, if you spent just three minutes a day doing inner work? Would you believe it? Maybe not, but wouldn't it be worth an investment of three minutes a day to try it?

The Living Book offers just this. Devote three minutes a day to this process and your life will become a living testimony to the seed principle. A tiny seed can grow into a mighty tree, but it must be planted. Plant your daily seed for three short minutes and notice both subtle and miraculous changes in your life. In addition to the daily practice, one can use the process when they are stumped or afraid or angry. This process transforms anger into love. When we plant seeds of light into our thoughts and emotional bodies, we move into higher frequencies of well-being.

The Living Book, by Anne Sermons Gillis. Paperback $4.95 plus $3.00 shipping. PDF Download $0.99. Kindle Book $2.99.

When Mind Over Matter Doesn’t Work

The biggest health deterrent is between our two ears. Our mind dictates our body’s responses and our cells listen with hypervigilant attention. This information is helpful information for healing, yet some people use this idea as a punishment. Armed with this fundamentalist interpretation of the Law of Attraction, they use the law of mind to judge other people.

I once had a friend who got irritated when anyone he knew was ill. He thought that since our minds create our illnesses and destinies, the person’s negative attitude was to blame. They were being irresponsible if they didn’t, wouldn’t, or couldn’t heal their condition. He had little compassion and plenty of blame and shame. While he might not speak about this directly to an infirm person, he harbored these judgments.

Then it happened: he had a stroke. He lost the use of his arm and was confined to a wheelchair. His first thoughts were those of guilt and shame because he had created this illness. He got over the guilt and went about changing his mind. He knew that he could turn his condition around. He thought the right thoughts. He read the right books. He cleared his emotions. He forgave everybody and everything. He was positive. He pictured himself as healed and healthy. He went to healers and medical doctors. While all these approaches can assist the healing process, his mobility remained restricted. He was unable to heal himself. This placed him in a precarious position. He was now in the position of the people he judged. He was unable to heal himself. He remained in a wheelchair, with the use of only one arm, for the rest of his life.

We have a tremendous amount of influence over our health, but much of what causes illnesses lies in a part of our mind that is beyond our control or ability to change. Twice, I (or the power that flowed through me) seemingly healed two major health conditions for others, but there have been many more times when my healing work appeared to have no effect. Did that mean that my mind wasn’t in the right place or that I didn’t have enough faith? Was I a bad person because I could only heal two people?

When we start working with the power of our mind, we must remember some vital points. We want to do everything we can, physically, to heal ourselves, we want to deal with and heal our emotions and traumas, and we want to maintain an optimistic attitude. Here’s the caveat: if we remain ill, then we need to apply acceptance and compassion, not blame or shame. We have amazing powers. I’ve known people who healed their bodies and had miraculous recoveries, but I’ve known those who did just as much work on themselves, but they died. I had a wonderful spiritual teacher who died, very young, of cancer. He had the support of his family and his friends; he fasted, juiced, meditated, went to an alternative hospital, and sought medical treatment. But eventually he passed away.

We are powerful beings who hold infinite potential for healing and emotional recovery, but we may never be spot on 100% of the time. Just because we can experience miracles, we can’t expect to always control our personal Universe. Mastering life doesn’t mean that the external world is at our command; it means that our internal world is calm, radiant, and fertile with ideas. Let’s let ourselves off the hook. It is wonderful when we can heal our bodies, but it is more important that we become the embodiment of love and compassion, and when we do this, everything becomes EZ, or at least EZier.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches them becomes a part of the prosperity team.
