  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

We are in South Carolina. We are taking care of our grandchildren while our daughter goes to Africa. Yes, she left Monday, despite the health crisis. Elizabeth and I went to Thailand years ago. There was a coup in the country at the time. The airport was taken over by rebels at one point, but when we asked about getting a refund, the travel agency said, “If we are flying, you have to go or lose your money.” We chose to go. No sign of rebels and no problems on our end. I’m sure it will be the same for her on this trip.

Today my grands and I played a running game. We run around the back yard and then run around the house. It’s all for the benefit of our dog, Lucy. The boys love to see her run, and if we run, she runs. Whoa! I ran like an old person. I thought, “Why don’t you run like a 50-year-old?” I took off. I felt a new strength in my body and found myself easily running. My body felt like a 50-year-old body. All it took was the realization that the thought that I was 71 and just getting over a cold was an option. I could change that thought. How quickly my body responded. Limits make us live down to our lowest expectations. I may not be able to do away with all my physical limits, but I can expand them, and that’s it for the Anne Report.

What Is Your Path? Your Purpose?

We often refer to life as a journey. We talk about career paths and spiritual paths. We say, “I don’t feel like I’m going anywhere” or ask ourselves, “Where am I going?” We all want to go somewhere and get somewhere. M. Scott Peck captivated readers in the seventies with his book, The Road Less Traveled. The book shared his personal journey and reminded us that sometimes the most challenging path is the truly rewarding path. That’s why the road is less traveled, because it takes guts, bravado, courage, and maybe a little zaniness to travel a self-directed journey into the unknown.

How many times have you made that leap into the unknown and expected to sprout wings or to have the ground rise up to meet you, only to find yourself free-falling into confusion and disappointment? I divorced when I was 28. I was miserable and it was the right thing to do, but separating from my husband was not the release I’d hoped for. I was happy for about three minutes after we split, but then misery set in. I went on an unexpected journey of despair and grief. I’m glad I did, but taking the path of a single mother was challenging. I had gone from living with my mother to living with my husband. I had never been the adult. I only followed the lead of those in charge of me. I wouldn’t change a bit of it, because of the butterfly effect, but if I could keep the things I wanted in my life and throw away some bad choices, I would. We learn as spiritually minded adults that everything that happens in our lives, brings us to where we are now, but if I didn’t have to be so darned enlightened about every little thing, I would change some things. I feel fortunate that I lived through my reckless choices and admit that the extreme emotional pain pointed me inward. It was my fast track to the divine. I was so messed up that I needed divine intervention and that expanded experience of Infinite Intelligence. The avoidance of pain became my path. My pain led to curiosity, and in my search I stumbled across spiritual truths that would assist and guide me.

Having a purpose or focus in my life was invaluable. It took a while to figure out my purpose, but when I finally nailed it, I felt silly for not seeing it all along. It was SO obvious. My purpose is to share love through the written and spoken word. When I am on purpose, the path just rises up. Purpose and path make great partners, because without a purpose we might wander through life in a useless trip to disaster. Do you have a purpose? If not, it’s time. Our purpose can be a being purpose, such as being happy, or it can be a doing purpose. My purpose is a doing purpose – sharing love through the written or spoken word. It’s my incentive to write this newsletter, and, hopefully, it is a part of my path and purpose.

At 85, my friend was still trying to figure out her purpose. “It’s time for you step up to the plate and chose something. If you have not had your Paul on the road to Damascus experience yet, it is time to decide what you are about. At your age, you better not keep waiting. Just make it up!” Maybe she did, but she died a couple of years later. Had she defined her life earlier, what a force she would have been. She hid her light, as many women of her generation did. She was raised to be a good girl, a wife, and a mother. Yes, everything is perfect the way it is. I know that, but I’m just saying that there are missed opportunities. I love the idea that the Lord will “restore the years the locust have eaten,” but if we can admit that we are not on the path of our choosing, that we travel the path laid out by society and parental training, we can chose again. Without self-awareness we go in circles.

There’s a life path and there’s a day path too. The day path involves carrying our purpose into our everyday lives, so our purpose can guide us. Purpose allows us to see each day as an important possibility in our life’s work, even when we stay home all day. Purpose is so powerful that it can create a meaningful agenda for any day and in any situation. We need to have faith in our purpose. We can let it inspire us, guide us, and restore us. When it is our intention to live our purpose, we can be on our death bed and still be on purpose. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepth the law, happy is he.” The word “perish” in Hebrew is parah and it can be interpreted to mean out of control. And what is the law? It is the law of our being. It is our purpose. The Bible, which is an ancient self-help book, gives us insight into purpose. My transliteration would be, “Where there is no purpose, we spin out of control, but when we live our purpose, we are happy.” Maybe Solomon, the great wisdom teacher, wanted us to know that we need purpose and path, and I’m sure, if he were writing in the twenty first century, he would mention that when we have a purpose and live on purpose, each day, then our lives are EZier and EZier. Maybe you don’t want or need a purpose, but having a purpose is the miracle grow of spiritual life, and if it’s up to me, I just as soon not perish!

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.

You too can join the Prosperity Team by watching Anne’s Dr. Money channel.
