The Anne Report
The Anne Report
Dear ,
Jim and I went to Magnolia Gardens last week. The plantation was established in 1676. The gardens are natural, unlike the formal European gardens of those times. The old rice farm had gardens, rivers, and swamps. The azaleas were in full bloom. It was so lovely that we took advantage of our 7-day pass and went twice. We learned that Spanish moss is native to the area and that Native Americans named it. They called it tree hair. When the Spaniards came, they had beards. Natives do not grow facial hair. There were intrigued by the men’s beards. They renamed the moss, after the Spaniard’s facial hair. They dubbed it Spanish beards. Somehow, through translation, the name was mistranslated and went from beards to moss. I think they should have left it at tree hair. The most fascinating fact of the day was that when turtles hibernate, they get oxygen through their butts. It is called cloacal respiration. It is a diffusing process, not a breathing process, but the fact remains that when they hibernate, their main source of oxygen is through their butts.
We had an unexpected freeze and our yard went from verdant green to a sad olive color. I try not to take it personally, but, I admit, my heart drags a bit when we have a late freeze.
We saw our grands more than normal over the past few days and are grateful to be near family. I have not lived in the same town as any of my family since I was in my early twenties. It is a joy to be near my daughter, son-in-law, and grands. And that’s it for the Anne Report.

Immaculate Perception
Swami Muktanada was a guru who first traveled to the United States in 1970. His teachings and popularity spread, and soon his audiences were in the thousands. A reporter interviewed him and asked “How does it feel to be so well received? Your audiences are sizable.” Muktanada replied, “I feel the same.” “What do you mean?” queried the reporter. “I feel the same when I have five people or 5,000 people in the audience. I am at peace.” Muktanada had inner peace. His view of things sprung from within; his perception was grounded in his being. It was immaculate. He had an immaculate perception.
I used to conduct in-person A Course in Miracles classes. One Wednesday night only one person showed for class. She looked grief-stricken. She believed I would not hold the class since only one person attended. She pleaded, “Please hold class. I really need it. If you present your lesson, I will listen with the attention of 50 people.” I went on to give my lecture and we had a wonderful class.
I held several lectures a week and class attendance fluctuated widely. It was disappointing to spend time preparing, then drive to the center, and have only two or three people show up. I needed to either stop holding lectures or to see things in a different way. I needed an immaculate perception. Muktananda’s story was my go to story. It provided the perfect point of perception. I did not need to determine my self-worth or my feelings, based on how many people attended my classes. I went on holding classes. I had just two classes when only one person showed up. I remember both. I gave all I had to that one person, and both classes were powerful. One of the attendees gave a generous love offering. It was more than I received when the class was full. What an unexpected surprise.
The success model we follow in our culture sets us up for upset. The more people, the more money, the bigger house, the more expensive car - more is categorized as better or successful. It is a debilitating model.
Maybe a test of our success should be how we manage ourselves when things do not go as we had hoped or planned. How would we feel if we held a party and no one came? How would we feel if we were stood up for a date? Could we rise in ourselves and feel the same? Probably not immediately, but with some self-talk and with a reality check, we could stand in the truth of who we are. Once I was at a party and my date left. I did not know anyone, but I was determined not to let his behavior spoil my evening. Everyone was dressed in formal attire. I loved formals and I looked great! The band was so loud that it did not lend itself to striking up a casual conversation. I stood on the sidelines, never danced, never talked with anyone, but I watched others smiling and enjoying themselves. I was happy. Without an immaculate perception, things could have gone differently. I could have felt sorry for myself, left the party, and spent weeks talking about how I was wronged. I was not willing to go there. I knew who I was and that enjoying life as it presents itself is always a viable option.
Our worth is not determined by who does or does not attend our party or whether a date shows up or not. Our worth and value are unassailable by any event or circumstance. Our worth and value are an inalienable right, but we are the ones who must claim its inalienability. We must rest in our self-worth and not seek validation from outside ourselves. Seeking outside validation is a part of growing up, but when we are grown, we no longer need the training wheels of life. We are ready to know who we are and to live from that space. When we begin to know ourselves as the Self, we do not need validation. It would be like a donkey seeking out others to assure him or her that he/she was a donkey. We are the Self. It does not need to be validated, and when we believe, understand, and embody our Selves, life becomes EZier and EZier.

Abundance Affirmations
This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
