  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

I am writing this on my new computer. It is the first thing we’ve done together, me and my new computer. Though I doubt the Mercury retrograde phenomena, my past week’s experiences make me doubt my doubts. Last week my computer died a slow death. After my husband worked with it for hours, he reluctantly conceded that it could not be resurrected. I bought a new computer and a great backup drive. The new computer did some funny things, as if it was not working correctly, and, upon reflection, it went back to Costco. Then Jim ordered a new computer, and, though it worked great, I wasn’t willing to live without a touch screen. Back it went. So here I sit with my new computer, which, since I use the same software as before, looks like my old computer. I think Mercury retrograde goes out today, and, though I am a skeptic, I am glad to see it go!

The boys spent one night with us on the weekend. They had fun in our back yard playing in two water- filled storage bins. They love the water. Thomas, out of the blue asks, “Does the queen laugh?” “What queen,” I ask. “The queen of England.” “Yes,” I reply. “And did you know what her name is?” I ask. “No.” “It is Queen Elizabeth.” “Wow that’s my mom’s name.” Reynolds chimes in. And so it goes, all weekend with the boys.

And that’s it for the Anne Report. Take it EZ and make it an EZier day.

Instant Transformation

Have you ever had instant coffee, instant rice, or instant oatmeal? They are never as good as their slow cooking counterparts. It is the same with transformation - at least that is what we've been told: “It’s the journey, not the destination, that's important.” Unfortunately, that kind of thinking excludes instant transformation. It sets us up to believe that the best moments are in the future.

Adyashanti tells us to live as if we are already where we want to be; we are already enlightened, awakened, or transformed. Living as if we already are what we want to be, offers immediate relief to the human condition. Suppose we lived as if we were already happy? “I am the happiest person in the world.” Isn’t that far superior to the thought, “All I want is happiness?”

It is true that the journey is powerful, yet when we exclude the present, and believe it is something to be escaped, we exclude the possible immediacy of transformation. One of my favorite affirmations is, “I have what I need when I need it.” That thought provides a resting place for my mind. It keeps me from trying to game or control the future. It tells me that each present moment provides. I have everything I would ever need, and though the ego might tell a different story, each moment is complete.

Madhu wrote a book on the possibilities of instant transformation or immediate awakening. He set a date and time in the future. He wrote a contract with the Universe that went something like this, “On May 1st, 1985, I will step into my higher self. I will be transformed, enlightened.” His life had been full of searching and plagued by a deep uneasiness. He was tired of life’s burden, the one he could not carry anymore. Then it happened, on May 1st, 1985, he awakened to his true self. He was self-assured, no longer nervous about life, and transformed. He continued to live under this assumption that he was enlightened, that the burden of living had been set aside, and that everything was OK. Life was no longer a problem to be avoided or solved; it was a banquet to be savored an enjoyed.

That is why positive mind psychology caught on. It offered instant transformation. Positive thinking tells us that we can stop, right in the middle of an ego-controlled scenario, and not only feel relief, but we can also discover the ease and joy of life. There is a lot that positive thinking cannot do. It is not designed or supposed to solve all illnesses, but the illness, I expect all of life to be eternally difficult, is something embodied positive thinking can address. Why embodied? If we only mouth a positive thought, as if it is a platitude, it is nothing more than clanging symbols. It is bawdy. A positive thought, lathered over a feeling we want to avoid, is like cheap air freshener. The cover up is as bad, if not worse than, the original odor.

Remember the story about Saint Paul’s journey to Damascus? He was a persecutor of Christians, but on his journey, he was blinded by the light. He was so discombobulated that he spent three days in blindness. He was forced within, and when he emerged, he was transformed. He no longer persecuted Christians; he served them. Suppose we thought of Paul's journey as an inner journey, one that is instantly available? Let us not be blinded by the light. Let us be informed by the light, guided by the light. Just as a candle, when lit, lights a dark room, our ability to move into the light is available in this now moment. Paul’s experience points us to the now moment of transformation. Our emotions can change immediately, our thoughts can change, and our lives can turn on a dime.

What is it that opens the gate to our whole and holy selves? Is it choice or is it awareness? It is both. We must choose to be aware, so as not to continue along the road of habitual, trance-like living. We must go beyond the iconic cesspool of thought and be blinded by the light that destroys the prison of ancient wounds, decisions, and misconceptions. Let us always remember that what we seek, what the heart longs for, is always presenting itself and is immediately available. It is instant transformation. The grail cup is in our hands, filled with the elixir of life, and when we drink of it, our lives become EZier and EZier.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.

Relationships as a Spiritual Training Ground, June 23, 12:30-1:30 PM EDT.
Click this link for Anne’s Zoom conference: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83114637833. Anne will moderate a panel during World Unity Week. Her guests will be Bob Warner, co founder of CO Creators Convergence, Dawn Koufakis-Basel, author and women’s empowerment coach, and Lesley Michaels, author, podcast host, international speaker, and advocate for women.

World Unity Week Event Information: Teresa of Avila said that the Infinite (Whom she calls God) asks only two things of us: that we love the Infinite and that we love others. If we understood the importance of self-love and loving others, we would not involve ourselves in any other study. The early peace movement fell apart because of the failure of interpersonal relationships. At this cultural moment of anger and strife, we must rise to the challenge of peaceful co-existence. Peace is not reserved for one person; it is the field in which we exist spiritual beings. How can we awaken to our peaceful selves and acknowledge relationships as a sturdy path to self-realization?
