  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

My husband had an unusual upbringing. He was raised a Jehovah’s Witness. They do not celebrate birthdays or holidays. When it comes to any holiday, he has no warm fuzzies. On the other hand, I celebrated everything when I was a kid, except the Fourth of July. I do not think it was that big of a deal in the fifties, but maybe that was just my family. I love holidays. They are like standing when I have been sitting too long. Holidays give us a time to have fun and eat what we want. We took another approach this year, in that we decided to fast on July Fourth. We were not trying to make a statement; we just overate the day before. We purchased tomato pie from the local deli, and it was too rich. Think mayonnaise, cheese, and crust and four inches thick. The advantage was that I did not have to figure out a special meal and it was delicious.

The twins and family got in late last night from Exuma Island. I have not seen them yet and I cannot wait to talk with them. I did receive photos, and one picture showed them petting sharks. As far as I know, everyone still has their fingers and hands.

We live in perilous and difficult times, but they are not horrific all the time. There is much beauty and loving-kindness. These are the good old days, and, rather than fill our minds with the what ifs of the future, let us appreciate the what is-es of the present. And that’s it for the Anne Report.

Discovery

The word discovery points to an immediacy of learning or even to an a-ha moment. Discovery is that flash of deeper realization or recognition. The very word invokes a sense of adventure.

When I went on my quest to discover life’s blessings and wisdom, I came across two things that catapulted me from my sense of helplessness and into a place of power, or at least a place where I was more powerful. These principles guided my life. Sometimes they were bridges to my good, but not always.

  • Law of Attraction – I could attract things into my life through my thoughts and feelings. Yahoo!

  • When we seek truth, there are many instant moments of deeper realization or recognition. They feel like accidental discoveries.

Though I could not do anything to bring about a-ha moments, I could exercise The Law of Attraction, because in this law, there was choice. If thought was creative, then I could choose my thoughts.

Nifty. Our inner world radiates and magnetizes events into our lives. Once I discovered what I thought was the missing key to life, I became an investigator to discover how I messed up and how I could fix those messes.

I discovered an arsenal of untrue beliefs that keep me spinning in the unique drama I called my life. And I had the power to choose and change.

Thus, I chose, and I changed for years, but ultimately the burden of trying to manage every thought and to extract meaning from every experience became too heavy.

There had to be an easier way, and so I put some new rules in place.

  1. Often the meaning of something is apparent. I do not have to work at it. If the meaning is easily accessible, I can use the information to make changes, or at least learn from my insights. I do not have to learn from everything, but I am receptive to the obvious lessons that assault me!

  2. If the same thing keeps showing up, I investigate it, especially if it is a difficult emotional reality. But I do not examine every thought, correct every thought, and seek out the motive for every thought. That is exhausting. Trying to cover all the bases, all the time, is perfectionism, and that is NOT easy.

As I traipsed around philosophy and metaphysics, I discovered the most important discovery. I began to discover who I was. I was not who I thought I was. There were stages of discovery, and they may not be as linear as I present them, but I find this helpful regardless.

  1. We are totally driven and defined by others. - These are our formative years.

  2. Separation - We learn we are a separate being. We are not one with mom. We have independent thoughts.

  3. Oh no; I’m not me. - We discover that who we thought we were was defined by who we were told to be.

  4. Self-Discovery - We discover what we like, what our values are, what we want to do, and how we prefer things.

  5. We go for it. - I will be myself and do what “I” want to do. This phase brings a temporary hiatus to life’s generic suffering.

  6. Grand slam - Whoops, I’m not happy.

  7. Quest - We seek to find what lies outside the conventional forms and teachings about living a happy and fulfilled life. If things don’t make me happy, if experiences don’t make me happy, maybe I am going about this the wrong way. We do not know what happiness is, and we begin to suspect that it is not something we get, it is something we realize.

  8. We discover who we are - We cannot find out who we are; it must be discovered, because we are already that.

Every day we go outside, and we never really check to see if the sky is there. We rarely even notice it unless there is something different about it - dark clouds, pink sky, clear sky, where we can see the stars. We look up, but we are still looking mostly at what is in the sky, not at the sky itself.

Discovering who we are, discovering the self, is shifty, because who we are has always been present, like the sky, but rarely noticed. If we do not take the time to look, we never see ourselves.

The good news, the great news, is that we are perfect at each point of discovery. Think of a child at four - you see him or her and they are perfect, but they are not going to stay four, regardless of how cute and perfect they are; they will be five, six, seven, and eventually 67. Each new age of discovery is as it should be. Our job is to be aware and to keep moving in consciousness until we discover who we are. Kids at age seven do not actualize, but as they grow older, their growth brings with it the ability to spiritually mature. We are on a spiritual journey to discover who we are. Granted, there are many pitstops, but as we allow ourselves to move along, without trying to be perfect and without self-criticism, we find that not only can everything be EZier and EZier, but we can also shed our burdens and enjoy life. And, as my beatnik self might say, “And that’s cool, man, cool!”

Join Anne’s Facebook Group

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
