The Anne Report
The Anne Report
Dear ,
I live in a new neighborhood which has advantages and disadvantages. One of my new pleasures that makes the advantage list is my front porch and my screened-in back porch. My first porches! I love porches. Our front porch houses potted plants, small tables, and two wicker chairs. The delightful aspect of having a front porch is that all my neighbors have a front porch as well. Most people have their front porches set up with sofas, swings, or chairs. Any time, day or night, I see someone sitting on their porch. These small spaces make a big impact. If there were no front porches, the feel of our neighborhood community would be so different. Click to view a video of my front porch. I am grateful for my porches.
Saturday, I journeyed about 40 miles to buy home grown organic muscadine and scuppernong grapes. It was a beautiful drive, and I came home with four Ziploc bags full of grapes. The fun part was touring the ranch/farm. Keith, the grower, had kiwi trees, plum trees, grape vines, blueberries, and herbs. He had a variety of small houses that were used when he had chickens and quails, but a neck surgery shut down his relationship with his feathered friends. I sat on the porch with Keith and Linda and talked for about half an hour about camping and gardening. I felt relaxed and spiritually fed. Then I left. The GPS didn’t work at first, but after one wrong turn, it came back on. What did we do before GPS navigation? I love GPS. And that’s it for the Anne Report.

Let’s Make Room at the Table
Years ago, split level homes were popular. Perhaps, like split level homes, we exist at several levels of consciousness. Some might call them archetypes, but I like the term levels. We move up and down on these levels, and, when we do, we become different permutations of a complex and diverse self.
Each level must find a way to coexist with the others, in a compassionate, supportive way. At one level we are like kindergarteners, while at the other level, we are wise old sages. There is the bitch, the saint, the greedy, and many more. Some levels seem more mature than others, or so I think. Maybe feeling like a mischievous brat is the same as feeling like a saint. Krishna, the Hindu god of protection, compassion, tenderness, and love, is often depicted as a mischievous child or youth, or as a handsome cowherder. Yet I stand by the idea that some levels are more mature and better advised than others.
The problem is that we tend to label some levels as acceptable while we shoo others away. Some levels are so unacceptable that we push them below our level of awareness, and they get us in trouble. The farther we push a ball under water, the more intense its rise to the surface. Think about ministers who think and preach that sex is bad. They preach against it, but in making it an enemy, they make it more appealing. Just like Adam and Eve, the more unavailable something becomes, the more attractive it seems. It’s the forbidden fruit syndrome. FYI: they may be preaching against sex, but they are really making sex more attractive to their congregants.
Once I went to a retreat center that had several hot springs. To my surprise, people went into the hot springs in the nude. It was a foreign idea to me, but I was young and looked pretty good without clothes. After all, I was in California, and I did not know anyone there. Following the initial shock of seeing naked people, I settled down. I was no longer shocked; nudity seemed normal. I think about the time Janet Jackson had a fashion accident during a halftime show and everyone went berserk. She entered the land of the forbidden, and people were outraged.
Perhaps, the best we can hope for is a reconciliation of all these levels. We need to make room at the table for each level. This invitation to all our parts allows our creativity to flow, but it also keeps us humble. Rather than project our shortcomings onto others, or fixate on what others are doing wrong, allowing every part a room at the table gives us power. Strange. When we allow our weakest parts a place and space, we become more powerful.
When I grew up, I assimilated the idea that being important was a necessary part of life. Trying to be important was quite a burden and I muddled through it the best I could. Every time I did something that I thought might be important or relayed a story of me doing something awesome, I was filled with shame. The inner critic clamored, “Who are you to do something important?” Given this fanatical need for faux humility, I decided that being important was dangerous. What a dilemma. I must be important. I was nobody if I was not important, but being important was not acceptable and dangerous. When I look at these levels and their subconscious demands, I remind myself that there can be some resolution. I do not have to stay stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place. I can make room at the table for all points of view.
Oddly enough, when we allow each part a voice and a level of its own, the unacceptable part no longer dominates us. They become quiet informants to a more integrated self. We are intricate beings that require a flexible and multifaceted system of assimilation. Though all actions are not okay, once we act, that action is a part of our history and our story. Some levels may house a miscreant while others house an angel. We cannot condemn a level as if it is a falling shack. We must foster a space and place for all levels and their occupants, because when we do, everything become EZier and EZier.
P.S. - I do know that people call this shadow work. I love shadow work. I think there’s room at the table for looking at our aspects of being in many ways.

Dr. Money’s Facebook Group
This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
