  A Note From Anne

Dear ,

I’m working on my new book. I’ve been somewhat distracted this week with other events, but the book is slowly coming along.

Here’s a sneak preview. Remember, someone has to see it first before it can happen.

Visionary Statement for Social Justice

I envision a world where everyone has clean drinking water, a safe place to live, and a job that pays living wages. I see a world where people are free to speak out, worship as they wish, be atheists if they wish, and to participate in a just and fair government. I picture a world where slavery is abolished and everyone is free to live the life style of his or her choice. All races are respectful of other races and gender differences and people realize that diversity brings strength.

I see a world with justice for animals. No animal is allowed to suffer and our animal friends have safe and protected habitats and access to plenty of food and water. Animals are not thought of as commodities, but as beings with feelings and rights. Every living creature is respected as an integral part in the web of life.

I see a just, thriving society for everyone. The principles and concepts of social justice are a growing power in the fabric of every society. Freedom, peace, abundance, and happiness reign.

Have a wonderful week, and remember to make it EZ.

  EZ Seniors

Last week I spoke to a group of seniors at a community center. There were maybe 80 people. They were attentive and asked great questions. I spoke about enlightenment and EZosophy. I always get a little nervous before I speak. It’s not nervousness about the speaking; it’s nervousness about getting to a place where I’ve not been and navigating the Houston traffic. Last year I went to speak to a group that was about 25 miles away and, because of the construction, took the wrong exit. My GPS only knew how to direct me down roads that were closed and, at one point, I ended up at a road that dead-ended in a field. Fortunately, a farmer happened to be in the field and he gave me directions. I walked into my class about 2 minutes before it was supposed to start. My 30 minutes of extra time was gobbled up by the circuitous route.

The price of doing something out of our routine is often discomfort. There’s an old saying: "Feel the fear but do it anyway." But rather than immersing ourselves in fear energy, we can observe and enjoy our fear. That way, fear has no power over us. I’ve solved some of my problems these days by having my husband drive me. He seems to be a traffic warrior and can find his way to hell and back. That’s the kind of driver I need! I am an advocate of the EZ mantra, "Everything can be EZ or at least EZier." I look for EZier ways to do things in my everyday life.

One strange thing happened during my lecture. At the midpoint, people started leaving one by one. Finally, about half of them were gone. I wondered why, but didn’t take it personally. I was curious. I asked what time the class was supposed to end and people chimed in. "11:30 AM." It was 11:45 AM by then.  "That explained why people left." I told the management that I would have a two-hour workshop. Someone produced a flyer; it read from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. I shared the mix-up; they took it in stride.

I hurried things up, skipped a few things, and ended my session. I was honored to have so many people stay way past the expected time. Someone even said, "Take your time. We are enjoying this."

While I could not sell my books inside, I could sell them outside. My husband was to be stationed outside when the workshop was over at 12:30 PM, but, of course, he wasn’t there when most of the people left.

At some point in my life I would have worried about why people were leaving as I talked and would have been concerned because I missed sales due to the mix-up. What grace that I am seasoned in a philosophy that encourages me to let go of the drama! It’s one thing to have to process and let go of concerns and upsets, but it's even better when the drama never arises. When we practice the 8 word EZosophy miracle mantra ("Everything can be EZ or at least EZier.") on a consistent basis, there comes a point when the drama quickly dissipates or doesn't even start. We simply notice it beginning to start and choose to change course.

Living the principles of EZ first becomes a habit, then it becomes second nature, and finally we become the embodiment of EZ.

I encourage you to visit our web site at http://annegillis.com and take advantage of the EZosophy tools, videos, and articles. The newsletter archives provide invaluable information about making your exterior and interior lives EZier, freer, and lighter. We live in a drama-lined culture, punctuated by an information speedup. The EZosophy philosophy can help. Don’t go down with the drama. Don’t be a drama lama nor a spiritual worrier – make life EZier. The only time for this change is now. Now is our point of power, and no matter what we see or experience, everything can be EZ or at least EZier.

Cranberry Ginger Delight

If you love to have a drink in your hand, the following drink is so much better for your body than coffee or soda. I may be the concoction queen. My husband thinks it’s cute that I am so proud of my drinks. Here’s my latest potion.

While I advocate drinking room temperature drinks, we recently bought a new refrigerator that makes filtered crushed ice. This upgrade, new stainless steel appliances, was supposed to help sell the house. The house hasn’t sold, but I love the crushed ice. When was a kid, crushed ice was a luxury, so I’ve been adding that crushed ice to some of my self-blended brews and loving it. I feel like a kid again. Enjoy.

Cranberry Ginger Delight

  • 1/3 cup of unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1/3 cup of orange juice
  • ½ filtered cup water
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh grated ginger
  • Juice from ½ large lemon
  • Stevia to taste (or real maple syrup)

Mix and drink for a mid-afternoon pick me up. It’s a great snack to hold you over until dinner and it energizes you.
