  A Note From Anne

Dear ,

It's been a full week with the election and me giving a lecture and two workshops. We are putting our house back on the market – this time on Craig's List. We sold a refrigerator. Life keeps moving in the direction of our dreams.

AT&T is digging up the neighborhood to put in new fiber optics cable. There are cables, neon orange flags, workers, and trucks everywhere. If we are still around when the work is completed, we will be glad to have a fast, reliable Internet connection. I'm sure we will see some kind of rise in our bills. Being on corporate welfare, AT&T has already been given tax breaks to build these cables years ago. Of course, they didn't use the tax breaks to build the cables; they just kept the money to be used for everyday business purposes and stock dividends. Lovely.

Life seems hopeless when big business and the billionaires get the breaks while middle America suffers, but when we start suffering about the problems in the world, we lose our ability to do anything about them. Suffering for others does no good. Even though suffering for others is second-hand suffering, it affects us as much as if something tragic is happening in the present to us. As one of my art pieces below states, "Worry is a prayer for what you don't want." Compassion and suffering differ. Compassion fuels the heart; it opens the heart. Suffering creates hopelessness or anger and closes the heart.

Last week we hosted Zack Braunstein and Sam Wrigglesworth. They are interviewing people in a project they call "Searching for Shraddha." Shraddha means, "That which is placed in the heart." Our hearts are the Central Intelligence Agency for our lives. When we feed the heart with endless, angry righteousness, projection, and blame, and suffer over external circumstances or suffer for others, our hearts die a little. They lose their ability to genuinely identify with others.

I don't like that corporations don't pay their fair share, but suffering about it is ridiculous. We have to quit using circumstances as an excuse to suffer. Life is hard, but it is not hard all the time. We must start a revolution of well-being and keep our hearts safe from the daily endless madness we encounter. Take a break with me and make your lives EZier and EZier.

  WOW Power

Have you lost your WOW power? Do you go through your day and never say "WOW!" As we age we often lose our wow power, but we don't have to. Here are three things that can help us keep our WOW power.

Practice the inner smile. Do this frequently during the day. First smile – just a little curve. Then concentrate your attention between your eye brows. You might feel your forehead tingling. This is called the third eye and it is the seat of our intuitive awareness. Next bring your focus to the center of the brain. Feel your body relax as you smile. Think of this as inner alchemy. Repeat throughout the day. You will be surprised that such an immediate and simple action can bring peace.

We read in Matthew 6:22, "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light." Does this teaching refer to the third eye? Seems like it to me!

Find your connection to color. Vivid colors have magical power. They radiate a frequency that lifts and heals. Each color aligns with a certain area of our body. Sit and imagine the corresponding color going into each area of your body as shown in the chart below. Use the following thoughts with each color.

  • Red – "Safety and trust dwell here."
  • Orange – "Creativity dwells here."
  • Yellow – "Wisdom and power dwell here."
  • Green – "Love dwells here."
  • Blue – "I speak the truth."
  • Violet – "Awareness dwells here."
The Seven Chakras

Take ten. Frequently during the day, sit down and take 10 short breaths in a row, followed by one long breath. If this doesn't get to you, meaning you are not dizzy or hyperventilating, do this 3 more times, optimally do 4 sets, but one set is enough. We tend to subventilate during the day, and, as we age, we restrict our oxygen intake. We are more sedentary and hunch over. Breath is life; breath is energy. No energy, no wow. Breathe back your WOW.

— Gina Lake

"Thoughts appear in the present, but their content is always about the past or future because there is never enough time in the present to have a thought about the present."
— Nirmala

Stop Messing With Stress

Stress is rampant in our culture. Unfortunately, we like our stress. We often define our worth by the amount of stressful activities we can cram into one day. While being productive is admirable, having a heart attack or developing a panic attack is the body's way of reminding us that we cannot continue to run our bodies at full capacity forever.

Two years ago I started having disturbed vision. I saw strange lights and a swirling energy that looked like the gateway to another dimension. Although "seeing the light" might have been good for Paul on his Damascus get-away, I suspected my experiences were not the same. Brain wave tests showed I had spiky brain waves. The doctor prescribed medication and told me to discontinue driving. Turns out she prescribed "Zombie Medicine." While I have a keen interest in the supernatural world, I was not ready to join it. The doctor forecasted that the condition could not be cured, but could be controlled by medication.

What a dilemma. The doctor seemed so assured of her path of delivery, but it wasn’t my path. I resigned from boards, stopped many activities, and headed for the acupuncturist. I went outside more, took time to listen to music, and had more fun. The episodes ended within two months.

Illness is our body's signal that we are out of balance. Illness invites us to slow down and take it easy. The medical profession worships germs, but germs are not the real culprit. When our body is strong and rested, we resist germs, but when we are worn down, we catch more colds and diseases. Pay attention to your illness. It is here for a reason. Talk to your illness and see what it wants from you and what it is here to tell you. We think our bodies will run on fumes forever, but they cannot and will not. Stress illnesses are a form of slow suicide. These words may not be for you, but someone who is reading this needs to take stock and slow down! I’ve done my part. It's now up to you.
