  The Anne Report

Allow Your Bliss

Dear ,

Happy Independence Day. This morning I walked in the 4th of July parade. We have quite a celebration where I live. The parade lasts more than an hour and the participants are local businesses and clubs. There are signs all over The Woodlands that read "Fireworks Prohibited." That doesn't stop the locals from shooting off a large variety of the contraband. I call it the forbidden fruit syndrome. People love to do the things that they are prohibited from doing.

I'm excited that I'm almost ready to offer my next book. It's entitled The Living Book, and it will be available in PDF form and booklet form by the next newsletter.

I am planning on going to The Theosophical Society national conference on two weeks. It's on Eco-Spirituality. Hopefully I come home inspired, even though I feel so inspired currently, that I'm not sure what more inspiration would look like, but I'm willing to see. I'm always willing for my good to get "gooder." People tend to look for the other shoe to drop when things start going well. We knock on wood in order not to jinx our good. It's time to lay aside our programming of thinking bad things follow good and open ourselves to our good expanding. As the new saying goes, "If anything can go right, it will." That's it for The Anne Report.

Declaration of Inner-Dependence

Each July 4th I contemplate the idea of freedom. While most think of freedom as not living under a tyrannical government, I think of inner states of freedom. I want freedom.

What kind of freedom do I desire? Freedom from:

  • The egoic mind
  • Fear
  • The personality – the story of me
  • Driven-ness, and not even a driven-ness toward anything, but an unspoken driven-ness that shows up like being out of breath and feeling the need to hurry
  • Needing to be busy
  • Criticism and judgment

I am not always trapped by the above-mentioned confines, but when I am, I know that my inner states of freedom have been violated. One year, I wrote my Declaration of Inner Dependence. I've rewritten what was written to be an ideal for our country and turned it to an ideal for our consciousness.

Declaration of Inner-Dependence*

I, a spirit of the United States of Consciousness, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure tranquility, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty for myself and others, and for posterity, do ordain and establish this Declaration of Inner-Dependence.

I, __________________, am inner-dependent. I am fully dependent on the source within to provide me with a sufficiency of all things necessary to live a passionate, joy-filled life. When I settle my mind, and release the thoughts that drag me down, I am immersed in the deep, quiet place of fulfillment. I declare that this inner space is non-failing and all-providing. I am a part of this grand intelligence and I choose to live my life in accordance with its provisions. I depend on the substance within to care for my every need. The unfailing spiritual activity within me provides goodness and mercy in my relationship with self and others, my financial affairs, and in my career, body, mind, and feeling nature. I accept the inner presence as my instant, constant, non-ending abundance of all good things. God is the Source, and the I Am of me is the re-source. I am like my creator, Source and Re-Source.

Furthermore, I hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people are created equal in spirit, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Furthermore, I know myself to be the creator of life, liberty, and happiness in my world, and, as an inner-dependent, I know that I am richly blessed by everything, everyone, and every situation. So Be It!

Happy 4th to everyone, and may you be free from the inner-terrorist.

Anne Quotes

"Surrender is the path we choose that says we give up our right to choose as we've been choosing. It takes us past the choosing mechanism. It is a choice, made by the mind, not to lead, but to follow, the unfolding wisdom of Infinite Clarity."

"Vitality comes from reality, not from addictive patterns of spending, thrills, greed, or false powers. These patterns are idols, false gods."

"Can you imagine taking classes to be human? In the class you learn how to hear, how to move, how to open and close your eyes, how to breed, how to make saliva, and how to keep your heart beating. Who needs that kind of class? Being human does not require instruction or practice, because you already are that."

Quotes from Anne's newest book, The Living Book, soon to be available in pdf and booklet form.

What is an affirmation?

It is simply a thought. A thought can be constructive or destructive, but regardless of their persuasion, thoughts are powerful. The thoughts offered in this book are beneficial thoughts or affirmations. They can bring a much needed respite to a churning mind. Beneficial affirmations are training wheels for the mind; they offer a radical change from caustic mental programming. They are missives of well-being and the seeds we plant in the garden of awakening. They are tender thoughts of what might be.

Don't Miss Your Bliss

According to yogic philosophy, there are five layers to our existence. The first layer is matter; the second, life force; the third, mind; the fourth, intellect; and the fifth is the bliss, happiness, and freedom layer.

We tend to identify with the first four layers, not realizing that bliss and joy are an integral component of our existence. Bliss is the aspect of self that allows us to look beyond the surface activity and remain calm in the face of drama, disaster, and the potential overwhelm of contemporary living.

The more life force we have, the easier it becomes to rest in our natural state of bliss. One way to increase life force is through eating healthy foods. Raw fresh fruits and vegetables hold the most life force. The more we cook our foods, the more life force they lose. Lightly steamed broccoli has life force, but overcooked, mushy broccoli has nutrition and calories, but no life force. I eat a huge, raw, organic salad daily. This habit, along with other practices, keep me healthy and fit.

Microwaves kill all life force and change the nature of the food. Personally, with incredulity from friends and family, I do not use microwaves. My choice is far from the popular choice, but for me it is the right decision. My friends, the ultra-healthy ones, don't use microwaves either. We are barraged by so many choices and opposing opinions about food and health, that we must use our best judgment and intuitive knowing to make our choices.

What more can we do to increase our life force? Consider the following exercises:

  • Find an exercise that works for you. - Sedentary living is tempting as we age, but movement is required to maintain optimum health. Even if you just walk in place 10 minutes, while watching TV, you increase the life force. When the weather is bad, I walk around in a circle in my house or walk in place. Marching in place while touching the right knee with the left hand and the left knee with the right hand is called cross lateral training, and it is good for the brain. Even though SuperBrain yoga is controversial, and may not deliver all it claims, it is a fun practice. How to do SuperBrain Yoga. If there is no movement, there is no life. Movement is essential to life.
  • Reflexology -  Massage your feet or hands (Click for reflexology charts.) or use a tennis ball and roll under each foot. Ten Fitness Uses for a Tennis Ball.
  • Practice conscious breathing exercises. Breath Practice One – Inhale and exhale four shorts breaths and one long breath through the nose. Do this for four rounds, for a total of 20 breaths. Stop if dizzy. Breath Practice Two is the same except this time breathe in and out so quietly that you can't hear the breath. The second technique makes one aware of the energy, and it has a very calming effect on the mind. A calm mind is a healthy mind. Breathe through the nose; there is a passage in our sinuses that takes energy directly to our nervous systems. (Source: Leonard Orr)
